Is 1923 season 2 happening or is the show a limited series?

Who here is a fan of Yellowstone and the franchise overall? Raise your hands high! The original series and its prequels, 1883 and 1923, have proved to be captivating stories for audiences, all doing well on Paramount+. Because of that, is the Western getting a second season?

The show takes us back to a part of the Duttons origin story, with Jacob and Cara leading the family in this time period. This is a time in the early twentieth century when pandemic, drought, and the end of the Prohibition are all challenges the Duttons have to face, per the synopsis.

The series stars Harrison Ford as Jacob and Helen Mirren as Cara. Joining the two onscreen are Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, and Jerome Flynn.

So is 1923 getting the renewal treatment? Will we get to see the Dutton family’s story continue? We’ve got the answer for you below!

Good news for you 1923 fans! If you’ve been enjoying this installment in the Yellowstone franchise, then we’re happy to report that as of Feb. 3, 2023, the drama series has been renewed for season 2, TVLine reports. Since the show was ordered, it was expected the Taylor Sheridan-led series would be getting a renewal. But now it’s confirmed! Paramount+ hasn’t shared an episode count yet, but it will most likely be eight episodes like the current first season.

Since the other Yellowstone prequel, 1883 starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, was a limited series that only ran for one season, I’m sure many of you believed this would also be the case for the current Western drama. But nope! There’s still more story to tell. And we’re very excited about that!

1923 season 1 has a total of eight episodes. Episode 5, “Ghost of Zebrina” will be released on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023. The finale is set for Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023.
