The Scream franchise is arguably one of the most popular horror movie series of all time. I know that here at Hidden Remote, it’s a top favorite! The first Scream premiered in theaters in1996, and Scream 4 dropped in 2011. But in 2022, Ghostface made an epic return in Scream 5. Now, we are all excited about the upcoming sixth movie, Scream 6But what is the Scream 6 movie rating?

If you have never watched the Scream movies, boy are you missing out! All of the movies are streaming on Paramount+, so go watch all five ahead of Scream 6 on March 10. Many fans of the genre share their love of slasher-thrillers with the whole family, as long as its age appropriate, of course. This is why it’s so important to know the film’s age rating.

There’s also the fact that every kid is different. Some teens can’t stand the sight of any blood, while others don’t mind it and instead stay away from supernatural horrors. The age rating gives you a hint at what to expect. Age ratings are also very important in horror movies because, let’s be honest, a PG-13 thriller is not going to be as great as an R rated feature (though MEGAN is an exception, that movie is great).

Why is Scream 6 rated R?

Scream 6 is rated R, so PG-13 haters can rest easy, this movie is bringing the thrills! The movie is rated R for bloody violence, which is no big surprise, language throughout, and brief drug use.

Got a teenager at home who can handle all of this? Then bring them with you to the movies! There is no uncomfortable sex scenes or nudity.

Is Scream 6 in theaters or streaming?

If you want to watch the latest movie in the slasher franchise, you’ll have to see it on the big screen. Scream 6 is a movie theater exclusive, so it is not going to be available on stream for some time. But when it does, its streaming home will more than likely be Paramount+, where movies 1-5 are currently streaming.
