How many Big 12 teams made the 2023 NCAA Tournament?

There are seven Big 12 teams headed to the 2023 NCAA Tournament. There’s no doubt this is the best conference (at the top) in college basketball, led by the Kanas Jayhawks, who won the Big 12 regular season, finished second to the Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 tournament, and are the defending National Champions.

Of the top 12 teams in the NCAA Tournament, four of those teams are from the Big 12. In addition, the last two National Champions have come from the Big 12: Baylor Bears in 2021 and, as mentioned, Kansas in 2022.

There’s a very good chance the Big 12 produces another champion in 2023. Kansas likely has the best chance to win again, but there haven’t been back-to-back National Champions since the Florida Gators about a decade ago.

There are two more Big 12 goes dancing than the ACC, and one less team than the SEC and Big Ten put in the field.

• Texas Longhorns (2-seed)
• Baylor Bears (3-seed)
• Kansas State Wildcats (3-seed)
• Iowa State Cyclones (6-seed)
• TCU Horned Frogs (6-seed)
• West Virginia Mountaineers (9 seed)

If I had to pick a Big 12 team to make it to the National Championship, I’m going with the Texas Longhorns.

Did Oklahoma State make March Madness?

Unfortunately, the Cowboys of Oklahoma State were left off of 2023 March Madness this year. On some projections, the Cowboys were in. Joe Lunardi of ESPN had the Cowboys as the First Team Out, which means they were the first team not to make the tournament, and that’s where they ended up during the bracket reveal on Selection Sunday.
