There are a bunch of SEC teams going dancing this year. There are eight SEC teams that qualified for the 2023 NCAA Tournament, including the top overall seed in the field, the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Big Ten and the SEC finished with the most teams in the NCAA Tournament with eight teams each. The Big 12 came in third place with seven teams in the field, followed by the ACC with 5. Alabama won the regular season championship and tournament championship for the SEC this year.

Here is the full 2023 March Madness bracket.

SEC teams in the 2023 NCAA Tournament

  • Alabama Crimson Tide (1-seed)
  • Tennessee Volunteers (4-seed)
  • Kentucky Wildcats (6-seed)
  • Missouri Tigers (7-seed)
  • Texas A&M (7-seed)
  • Arkansas Razorbacks (8-seed)
  • Auburn Tigers (9-seed)
  • Mississippi State Bulldogs (11-seed)

Alabama is likely to be the favorite to win March Madness this year as the top overall seed. Tennesee has one of the best defenses in the country, so it’s possible they could make a big run, as well. Kentucky is one of the bluebloods of college basketball, and you definitely can’t count them out, although they are a 6-seed this year.

Did Vanderbilt make March Madness?

Overall, there weren’t many SEC teams on the bubble Vanderbilt made a late run, including a win over the Kentucky Wildcats in the SEC tournament, but ultimately, the Commodores did not make it into the March Madness field this year. Had Vanderbilt made the tournament, the SEC would have had the most teams in the tournament.
