Wowza! The season 2 premiere episode of Yellowjackets was only a bite of the big entree to come, huh? Pun intended, of course! If you haven’t watched the episode, let’s just say it’s an insane final scene. But, that said, please note there are spoilers ahead if you are behind on Yellowjackets season 2.

Yellowjackets season 2 episode 2, titled “Edible Complex,” is now streaming. The episode will air on Showtime on Sunday, April 2. Come back to this post after you watch the episode as spoilers are ahead.

Yellowjackets season 2 episode 2 ending explained: “Edible Complex”

Once again, there are significant spoilers ahead as we break down the ending of each episode in season 2 (updated weekly). Now, we’re assuming you have already watched the episode and are ready to dive into that shocking moment, so don’t expect a recap.

Why did Natalie lie about Javi in Yellowjackets season 2 episode 2?

Lying to Travis about Javi was very selfish of Natalie. I understand she wanted Travis to move on and stop searching, but she only wanted this so that Travis could focus more on her. And the lengths that Natalie goes to lie (cutting her leg pretty badly) are insane.

Lottie is confused and tells the group that she still feels Javi, which makes Natalie mad. I have a feeling this is going to come back to Natalie and make her regret her lie.

What happened to Jackie’s body in Yellowjackets season 2 episode 2?

After learning about how Shauna has been posing Jackie’s corpse, braiding Jackie’s hair, and having full on conversations with her dead BFF, the group decides it’s time to burn Jackie’s body, since burying her isn’t possible.

Shauna is defensive about no one removing any of Jackie’s clothing, which the group thinks nothing of. After all, Jackie was Shauna’s best friend, and Shauna feels incredibly guilty about Jackie’s death. However, the reason Shauna doesn’t want to remove Jackie’s clothes. The reason is much darker. Shauna had taken a nice slice of skin from Shauna’s arm.

Everything was going according to plan, until the survivors wake up with the aroma of meat. Fresh off the grill meat! Now, I can’t imagine it’s a very good smell, but the survivors are starving and haven’t had a decent meal in weeks. I knew this was coming, but I didn’t expect it to happen this way.

Snow put out the fire before it could cremate Jackie’s body. In other words, it cooked to perfection (wilderness standards). The only survivor who didn’t help himself to Jackie, was Coach Ben. In fact, he seemed disgusted and shocked by what the others were doing. Episode 3 is going to be interesting, to say the least!

Yellowjackets season 2 episode 3, titled “Digestif,” premieres on Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, April 7, and airs on the Showtime network on Sunday, April 9, at 9 p.m. ET.
