After keeping fans in the dark on American Horror Story season 12 details for some time, news and updates are coming in and they are coming in hot! From a puzzling cast announcement, the return of a series favorite, and more, here is everything to know about the upcoming chapter of AHS. 

American Horror Story season 11 was not a winner, and not just in my book, but many fans agree. It was underwhelming and failed to capture my attention. I only got to episode three before I quit. Does it get better? If so, let me know and I’ll give it another shot. In the meantime, I am super curious about the upcoming season.

American Horror Story season 12 strike delay updates

August 15 UPDATE: According to TV Line, American Horror Story: Delicate (aka season 12) has an official release date! The upcoming season of the anthology series will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

July 13 update – Filming for both American Horror Story season 12 and its spin-off series American Horror Stories season 3 has come to a halt due to the strike.

American Horror Story season 12 release date predictions

Unfortunately, we do not know the release date for season 12 as it has not yet been announced. Don’t hold your breath, though! It’s going to be a while. According to The AHS Zone, filming for season 12 will begin in May 2023, so it should start in a few weeks! That said, the season won’t be ready for a summer release, and possibly not for a fall release, either. Instead, AHS season 12 will likely be out late 2023.

In an update that shocked everyone, Kim Kardashian will be joining the Ryan Murphy horror franchise. Is there anything she can’t do? We’re about to find out! Now, as far as the role Kardashian will be taking on, The Hollywood Reporter shares that Murphy created a “fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying role” for Kim.

Additionally, fan favorite Emma Roberts is coming back! Sadly, Evan Peters will not be returning. Other cast updates include The Resident‘s Matt Czuchry. Sarah Paulson will likely not join, either. But we’re still waiting to hear about Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Denis O’Hare, Kathy Bates, and others, so we’ll keep you posted! Here’s a quick list of those confirmed so far:

American Horror Story season 12 theme

We know the official title is American Horror Story: Delicate, and it will focus on a young mother. Entertainment Weekly shares that the upcoming season is an adaptation of the book Delicate Condition by author Danielle Valentine. This is the first time the series adapts a novel.

Delicate Condition follows Anna Alcott, an actress who becomes pregnant after many failed attempts and rounds of IVF. Unfortunately, Anna suffers a miscarriage. However, Anna claims to still feel the baby inside her.
