Is John Boyd leaving FBI? (Is a cast exit coming?)
By Sabrina Reed
In FBI season 5, episode 18, “Obligation,” Special Agent Stuart Scola had a big decision to make. He was coming off the terror of nearly losing the woman he loves (and mother to his unborn child) Special Agent Nina Chase thanks to a gunshot wound that put her and the baby in serious condition. The incident happened in the three-way crossover for the franchise which saw the truth about Nina’s condition being hidden from Scola.
He did eventually find out that his superiors had kept that under wraps because they were worried about how he would perform in the field if he’d known that information since he wasn’t in the same country as her and the baby at the time. Scola did get to see Nina by the end of the crossover and the two exchanged ‘I love you’s.
Obviously, such a heart pounding mortal scare took a toll on Scola and it had him contemplating his future with the bureau. Does this mean fans should be preparing for actor John Boyd to be making an exit from the series? Here’s what we know!
Is John Boyd leaving FBI?
According to our sister site Precinct TV, it’s not likely. Scola was weighing whether he should take Nina’s lead and move to a less dangerous division of the bureau instead of continuing on with fieldwork but he ultimately decided to continue doing his job in the capacity that he’s been doing it in. He wants to be a father, but he also wants to help people, so he intends to do both despite the risk.
