The Bold and the Beautiful recap (May 30): Hope admits her feelings

Hope finally admitted she’s had “thoughts and desires” concerning Thomas today on The Bold and the Beautiful. Of course, it wasn’t to the man himself. For that she’d have to step out on bigger limb than owning up to her straying heart to her mother, Brooke. But before I get ahead of myself, I should note that she didn’t convince Steffy that she doesn’t feel anything but friendship for her lead designer.

Sure, Hope came in all big and bad on Monday’s episode, but Steffy remained unbothered and that stayed the case as her former rival told her to mind her business and stay out of her marriage. Steffy left the room, designs in hand without her day going south, the same could not be said for Hope who was stewing so much she decided to text Brooke. But she didn’t end up getting the venting session and ally she thought she’d get.

Brooke couldn’t see why Steffy would accuse Hope of having feelings for Thomas let alone telling Liam about her suspicions without there being a reason why. While Hope did say that Steffy was doing what she’s always done by interfering with her marriage and said that she “went” to Liam with this falsehood (Reminder: Liam was at Steffy’s house when she told him), Brooke knew there had to be more to it.

Hope denied as best she could but finally she had to just be honest. She admitted that she’s human and she has been feeling something for Thomas. He’s handsome, funny, and they work 10-14 hours together on the line, so her thoughts have strayed, but that’s not the same thing as acting on those feelings. Hope loves and is committed to Liam. She says she’s not going to endanger a relationship that means everything to her, and she’s not going to let anyone not even herself jeopardize that.

Noticeably absent from that speech was any kind of game plan for how to keep her feelings in check, but Hope told Brooke she has everything under control.

What happened today on The Bold and the Beautiful?

Across the hall, Ridge and Taylor were having a moment. Taylor had brought him a pizza from Il Giardino but declined sharing it with him because she’d already had lunch with Brooke. This prompted Ridge to say that he hasn’t been seeing much of Taylor, presumably meaning in a one-on-one fashion since the two typically are seen together with their kids.

Tension was in the air as it was clear the two miss each other, and Taylor even flirted when she described what a date is to Ridge. Admittedly, she said she does think about him and the life they had, but she made a pact with Brooke and she intends on sticking to it. The two were briefly interrupted by Charlie who wants to go on the HFTF trip to Rome, but Ridge told him his security services won’t be needed so that nipped that in the bud.

Alone again, Taylor asked Ridge if he and Brooke have spent any time together “hanging out.” His mind flashed back to the kiss they shared at Christmas and their spicy near kiss in Brooke’s living room when she came down in a nighty. The look on his face was enough for Taylor to conclude what she’d feared, and Ridge tried to say otherwise, but then Steffy entered the CEO’s office.

She filled them in on why Hope’s steaming mad, letting them know that everyone’s been saying Thomas would be their problem in their working relationship when it’s actually Hope. This was news to Ridge and Taylor as they sat and listened to Steffy explain why she told Liam about what she’d seen. Taylor told her daughter she did the right thing, and that’s likely what she’s going to tell Brooke when she’s able to get a word in edgewise as well.

Brooke paid Taylor a visit at her office to get her to tell Steffy to retract what she said. She exclaimed that Hope would never cheat on Liam, and Taylor had to remind her that no one said she would. Looks like Brooke has put the horse before the buggy but of course she would since she’s now aware that Hope isn’t innocent in all of this and Steffy hit the nail on the head.

Taylor just looked at Brooke as her friend began to tear up and make demands in order to try to save her daughter’s marriage even that’s not on Taylor or the Forresters to fix. Hope’s the one dangerously close to making a mistake over a man she swears it would be ridiculous to have feelings for.
