How many episodes are in Outlander season 7 on STARZ?

The season 6 finale of Outlander left us with some unanswered questions and a big cliffhanger – what’s going to happen to Claire!? Thanks to the ever-annoying Richard Brown, Jamie and Claire are separated and our favorite heroine is taken to stand trial for the murder of Malva Christie. With the premiere on Friday, June 16, how many episodes can we expect this season?

If this wasn’t enough for the Frasers to deal with, they’ll also be facing the American Revolution that’s arrived. With turmoil in North Carolina and the major war effecting their lives, the family will find themselves caught up in it, per the synopsis. Plus, there’s always external factors that could threaten to tear them apart. What will they face this season?

The show stars Caitríona Balfe as Claire, Sam Heughan as Jamie, Sophie Skelton as Brianna, Richard Rankin as Roger, John Bell as Young Ian, David Berry as Lord John Grey, and more. New cast members we’re excited to see are Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, Joey Phillips as Denzell “Denny” Hunter, and Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel.

How many episodes are in Outlander season 7 on STARZ?

Outlander season 7 is a total of 16 episodes. That’s right, we’ve got a lot of story to look forward to! We haven’t had such a large season since the very first one. And like the inaugural season, the seventh has been split into two parts with two different release dates.

This is because at first, both seasons 6 and 7 were going to be 12 episodes each. But due to pandemic challenges and Balfe’s real-life pregnancy, the sixth season was shortened to eight episodes. The four missing ones have been added to season 7.

The first eight episodes of the seventh season premiere starting Friday, June 16, 2023 on Starz and the Starz app. Installments will be released weekly until Aug. 11, 2023 (no new episode will air on Aug. 4). Then, the show will be taking a break and won’t come back for the next half until sometime in 2024. An exact premiere date for episode 9 of the season has not been announced yet.
