NCIS season 21 is still a long ways away. With the writer’s strike still going, we don’t know when exactly we will get to see our favorites back on screen. However, for now, we can speculate on which NCIS characters we might see when the new season airs.

If you recall, when season 20 ended, we saw Nick Torres make a fateful decision that could result in his job being affected. While undercover, he discovered a familiar face was still causing trouble and he was ready to stop him.

While we do not yet know why Nick had such a strong reaction to seeing this man, it was hinted that he took advantage of Nick’s mother financially.

Plus, he appears to be continuing his misdeeds by making promises to help his new girlfriend’s son, an inmate that Nick befriended during his undercover operation.

NCIS season 21 cast (predictions)

It has not been confirmed that Wilmer Valderrama is leaving the show, so it is more than likely that Nick won’t do anything that affects his career and, most importantly, his life. But it will be a great arc to see as we learn more about him. Other cast members expected to return include:

  • Rocky Carroll as Director Leon Vance
  • Sean Murray as Agent Timothy McGee
  • Katrina Law as Agent Jessica Knight
  • Diona Reasonover as Kasie Hines
  • David McCallum as Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard
  • Gary Cole as Agent Alden Parker

Now, let’s look at who we probably won’t see back once NCIS season 21 airs on CBS.

Is Mark Harmon likely to return to NCIS season 21?

While series star Diona Reasonover did say in an interview that Mark Harmon was still involved in behind the scenes aspects of the show, we don’t expect him to come back in front of the camera.

Gibbs left the series in season 19 to retire and if McGee or someone makes the trek to Alaska, there is always a chance he could return. We won’t say he won’t be around, but there is only a small possibility he might.

Is Michael Weatherly returning to NCIS season 21?

Recently, rumors have swirled that Michael Weatherly will return as Agent Tony DiNozzo, who is living overseas with Ziva David and their daughter, Tali. Even though Weatherly has been open about wanting to return, nothing official has been announced about his return. So unless anything changes, we likely won’t see him return.

Since nothing is official, we’ll have to wait and see if he does come back alongside Ziva, and maybe his father, Anthony Dinozzo, Senior. Neither Cote de Pablo or Robert Wagner are confirmed to reappear but if they ever do, we would love to see their characters again.

Is Pauley Perrette returning to NCIS season 21?

Perrette played Abby Sciuto from the beginning of the series until 2018 after 15 seasons. Due to behind the scenes tensions with Mark Harmon, Perrette left the series and has not appeared to show interest in returning. It’s likely we won’t see her return, but we did see a nod to her character in a recent episode when we saw the team drinking Caf-Pow!

Is Emily Wickersham returning to NCIS season 21?

Wickersham played Agent Eleanor Bishop for eight years until her exit in season 18. Fans were left stunned, especially considering many shipped her and Nick Torres. Is there a chance she will return? While her goodbye post on Instagram made it seem like it was a final farewell, there is always a chance she will return. However, at the moment, it doesn’t seem likely we’ll see Bishop again. But never say never!
