Based on the 2017 Argentinian television series La chica que limpia, The Cleaning Lady debuted on Fox in 2022 and has since become a staple for the network. The addicting crime drama was developed by Miranda Kwok and follows Thony De La Rosa, a former surgeon from the Philippines who’s stuck living in Las Vegas with an expired visa. Her five-year-old son Luca has a rare disorder and needs treatment as soon as possible, leading Thony to go to great lengths to save him.

After Thony witnesses a crime, she agrees to work for the mob when they offer support for her and her son. She begins living a double life as she navigates her new reality, just wanting to do the right thing for Luca.

Fans of The Cleaning Lady find the series absolutely gripping and applaud Élodie Yung’s performance as Thony. So far, we’re two seasons down on the Fox show and another is on the way. So here’s everything we know about The Cleaning Lady season 3 so far.

The Fox drama was renewed for a third installment in Feb. 2023, about two months after the second season came to a close. Along with the good news, we also found out that the new season will see a new co-showrunner added to the mix, with Jeannine Renshaw joining Miranda Kwok.

Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn shared a statement along with the exciting renewal news, saying they are “thrilled with how audiences have latched on to this incredible story.”

In February, Yung took to Instagram to celebrate the renewal announcement, posting a series of selfies along with the caption: “In case you missed this awesome news: we’re going to SEASON 3!!!!”

Of course, The Cleaning Lady fans flocked to Yung’s comments section to share their excitement about season 3.

At this time, we’re expecting most of the cast to return for season 3. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Élodie Yung as Thony De La Rosa
  • Adan Canto as Arman Morales
  • Sebastien and Valentino LaSalle as Luca
  • Sean Lew as Chris
  • Martha Millan as Fiona De La Rosa
  • Eva De Dominici as Nadia
  • Faith Bryant as Jaz

Beyond just the returning cast, we’re expecting new additions to join for season 3, but at this time there haven’t been any reports regarding new cast members.

Is Oliver Hudson (Garrett Miller) in The Cleaning Lady season 3?

The two-hour finale of The Cleaning Lady season 2 left us on the edge of our seats and the show made the shocking decision to kill off the character Garrett Miller. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunners Miranda Kwok and Melissa Carter explained the big moment, which saw Garrett being fatally wounded in a shootout, saying:

"“We love Oliver Hudson so much and we loved his character, but it started to feel like this season we wanted to show that crime does have consequences.”"

Given that statement, we can assume Garrett’s death is final, and we shouldn’t expect actor Oliver Hudson to return in The Cleaning Lady season 3. Additionally, we shouldn’t expect Naveen Andrews to reprise his role as Robert Kamdar in the third season either, as his character was also killed off in the season 2 finale.

As for Robert’s death, Carter told Deadline: “We always knew that Naveen Andrews’ character was going to be someone that was just going to be one season, and we wanted it to be a thrill ride.” It certainly was quite a thrill ride!

What’s next for Thony and Armand in The Cleaning Lady season 3?

Details about The Cleaning Lady season 3 are scarce, and Fox has yet to release an official synopsis. That said, the showrunners did discuss the status of Thony and Armand’s relationship leading into the third season, sharing:

"“They have a relationship that is so unique and it’s never going to be one thing or easy. There’s this chemistry that brings them together and yet all these circumstances are still going to pull them apart. The relationship is evolving and there’s different directions it can go depending on how difficult it will be to get Fiona back. Or what new criminal ventures they’re going to go into. There is still this interesting love triangle with Nadia. Is she going to stick around to put up with it or will she become more of a nemesis? Those are all options to explore.”"

With Garrett’s death and Fiona’s deportation in the season 2 finale, Kwok told Deadline that Thony “has to now make even more risky decisions and more potentially detrimental mistakes trying to get back.”

“It’s going to be this push-pull, but even more intense, even more elevated, and even more complicated,” Kwok said of Thony and Armand’s relationship moving forward.

The writers’ and actors’ strikes delay season 3

When The Cleaning Lady was renewed for season 3, it was reported that the crime drama would return for the 2023-2024 Fox season. However, the landscape of the entertainment industry has changed since the renewal, with the writers and actors both on strike.

In case you haven’t been keeping up, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) failed to come to an agreement on their new contract in May, leading to the writers going on strike. That meant writers’ rooms for TV and movies associated with the WGA and AMPTP had to be shut down. And in July, the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) faced the same predicament, ultimately deciding to strike against the AMPTP as well.

At the time of this writing, writers and actors in the United States have stopped working because of the strike, which means many shows and movies are being delayed as a result. The Cleaning Lady season 3 is in that boat, as the series is not included in the 2023 fall Fox schedule. Instead, we’ll be getting new seasons of reality and competition shows like Kitchen Nightmares, The Masked Singer, and Lego Masters, along with animated favorites such as The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy.

There have been no reports regarding the filming schedule for The Cleaning Lady season 3, meaning there’s no evidence to believe they had begun production before the writers or actors strike. All of this is to say that yes, the new season is being pushed back.

Showrunners Miranda Kwok and Melissa Carter have been very vocal with their support for the ongoing strikes, taking to their respective Instagram accounts to share photos from the picket lines. Most recently, Kwok shared a series of photos from the Showrunner Solidarity Picket outside of Fox, where over 300 showrunners appeared to take a stand:

Though we’re sure Kwok and Carter would love to work on the new season, they are definitely in support of the strikes.

Currently, there is no release date for The Cleaning Lady season 3. We know it’s definitely not coming out in 2023, though, because it’s not included in Fox’s 2023-2024 lineup. TV Line reported that the third season is being held for the midseason, but that’s always subject to change. If all goes to plan, we’re expecting the series to return in early 2024. That said, it all depends on when the strikes end. We could be waiting much longer than that.

While we wait for more information about The Cleaning Lady season 3, you can currently watch the first season on Max or on Amazon Prime Video with the Max add-on, while the second season is on Hulu. However, Hulu indicates that the second season is leaving soon, so by the time you read this post it might not be available. If that’s the case, you can buy episodes of the second season on Amazon Prime Video.
