Updated: Sept. 7, 2023 – FOX has finally announced its 2023-2024 schedule with premiere dates instead of only a programming slate. In May of this year, the network had followed its 2022 strategy of not release the schedule at Upfronts.

The move was made in deference to the writers strike which started on May 2 when an agreement was not reached by the Writers Guild of America and the AMPTP. Said strike is still ongoing and there’s an actors strike that could kick off on July 13 if the latter group can’t reach an agreement with SAG-AFTRA either.

Dan Harrison, EVP of Program Planning and Content Strategy at FOX Entertainment explained in May that FOX is going to be flexible and “rather than announce a schedule today that we may not be able to meet this fall, we will hold back until we have a better handle on what programming will be available to us and when.”

With the strike in its third month, the network has decided to offer a slate of reality TV and animated series in the fall instead of its usual roster of scripted programming. Below you’ll find the fall schedule along with a list of returning programming that’s been held until the midseason and descriptions for new series set to launch in 2024.

FOX shows 2023-2024

As reported by Deadline:

Returning FOX shows

As you’ll noticed, 9-1-1 is missing from this list. That’s because the series was canceled by FOX, however, season 6 is not the final season of the show. ABC picked up the program and it’ll debut its seventh season on that network come the fall.

Welcome to Flatch also isn’t on the schedule, however, it hasn’t been canceled. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been renewed by FOX either. A decision on the show’s fate won’t be made until the WGA strike is over.

A surprising entry on the slate is the revival of Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. It’s been 9 years since the program aired, but it’ll be making a return for the 2023-2024 television season. LEGO Masters: Celebrity Holiday Bricktacular is also set for another multi-night event.

Held for the midseason

  • 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5
  • Accused season 2
  • Alert: Missing Persons Unit season 2
  • The Cleaning Lady season 3
  • Animal Control season 2
  • The Great North season 4
  • Farmer Wants a Wife season 2
  • Next Level Chef season 3
  • I Can See Your Voice season 3
  • LEGO Masters: Celebrity Holiday Bricktacular
  • Doc
  • Rescue: Hi-Surf
  • We Are Family

New FOX shows

Doc is a medical drama that centers on the brilliant Dr. Amy Elias who’s the Chief of Internal and Family Medicine at Westside Hospital in Minneapolis but who can’t remember the last eight years of her life. Her amnesia stems from a brain injury and now she must figure out how to navigate the world she’s inhabited for years but that she has no recollection of.

A lot can change in a near decade. For instance, at some point Amy divorced the man she considered to be her soulmate and she’s now in love with another man. She’s got a 17 year old daughter who she’s apparently estranged from but her last memory of her child is from when she was nine years old. Not to mention there’s a tragedy Amy knows nothing about that caused her to push the people she loves away and she’s trying to practice medicine without the near ten years of knowledge and experience she’d gained.

Thankfully, she has her daughter and her devoted friends to help her out in this unusual and overwhelming circumstance.

Rescue: Hi-Surf is a lifeguard drama set on the North Shore of O’ahu. The series will follow the personal and professional lives of the characters in an area that’s famous for its dangerous stretch of coastline. According to FOX, “Each episode will feature these dedicated, heroic, and adrenaline-seeking first-responders saving lives in the difficult and often life-threatening conditions of Hawaii’s Seven Mile Miracle.”

Krapopolis already has three seasons on the books and is set to begin its run this season. The animated series from Dan Harmon is set in a mythical Ancient Greece. The show focuses on a family full of humans, gods, and monsters who are all flawed in their own way. They’re attempting to run the city without killing one another which could prove to be difficult.

Executive produced and starring Jon Hamm, Grimsburg is another animated offering coming to FOX. The series focuses on the brilliant detective Marvin Flute who often prioritizes his own problems over the cases he’s supposed to be solving. His return to the titular town coincides with his goal to redeem himself in order to win his ex-wife back even if that does mean he has to spend time with the son he’s estranged from who he never bothered to get to know.

Snake Oil, a new game show, is set to put contestants to the test as they try to determine who is actually an entrepreneur looking to showcase their business venture and who is simply there to sell them a load of crockery like the snake oil salesmen of old.

Each round will see participants choosing a pair of entrepreneurs in order to hear about their products (which will often be on the more bizarre end of the spectrum). They’ll learn about the product through visuals such as custom-made informercials and through quizzing the entrepreneurs themselves. Contestants will have the help of celebrity advisors as they try to determine what’s an authentic business venture and what’s nothing but a scam.

Jamie Foxx has a new game show with We Are Family which will be co-hosted by his daughter Corinne. The music guessing game series features non-famous relatives of celebrities performing duets with their notable family member who is hidden from the studio audience comprised of 100 contestants. Over the course of multiple rounds filled with clues, contestants will be vying to win up to $100,000 each as they attempt to guess who the non-famous person is related to before its revealed. According to FOX, “Celebrities appearing on We Are Family will range from musicians and professional athletes to actors and beyond.”

As mentioned above, the network’s fall programming schedule has yet to be announced. We’ll update this article with premiere dates once they become available. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more FOX news and coverage!
