So Help Me Todd season 2 is not coming to CBS in 2023

If there’s one thing the So Help Me Todd season 1 finale proved, it’s that the titular character and his mom Margaret sure do make a great team! They’ve certainly come a long way since we first met the characters in the very first episode. We can’t wait for more story from the legal drama. But unfortunately, it seems like we’re going to be waiting a while until So Help Me Todd season 2 arrives.

The CBS series was renewed for a second season back in February 2023, episodes ahead of the season 1 finale. That doesn’t always happen in television! But the show has proven to be a welcome addition to our broadcast lineup, we really can’t say we’re surprised. What might be a surprise for some of you is the delay of season 2.

So why aren’t we getting the drama back this year? When will the series make a return? We’ve got some release date predictions below.

Why isn’t So Help Me Todd season 2 coming out in 2023?

So Help Me Todd season 2 isn’t coming out in 2023 because of the ongoing writers strike and the actors strike. The Writers Guild of America, which is the union that represents television and movie writers, went on strike and stopped working in May 2023. Since then, many productions have had to shut down because of this.

Then on July 14, 2023, the actors also went on strike after their contracts had expired on June 30. The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) could not reach an agreement. And so with no writers and no actors, at this time, the cameras have to remain shut off.

When is So Help Me Todd season 2 coming out? (Release date predictions)

Since we don’t know how long both unions will be on strike for, it’s hard to say when we could be seeing the second season of the legal drama. Initially, the series was part of CBS’ fall 2023 lineup along with Young Sheldon season 7 on Thursday nights. Now, a revised schedule has been released with the network relying on reality shows, airing Yellowstone starting with the first season, and showing reruns.

But So Help Me Todd is not on it. Depending on how long it takes for the unions and studios to reach an agreement, we’re looking at a 2024 release date as scripts for the second season haven’t been completed.
