Where (and when) will the Barbie movie stream after theaters?

Barbie and Ken have arrived! Greta Gerwig’s movieis now playing in theaters everywhere. Will you be checking it out over the weekend or are you going to wait for the streaming release? If it’s the latter, do you know where (and when) the Barbie movie will stream after it leaves theaters?

These days, almost every movie that premieres in theaters goes to streaming within a few weeks or a couple of months. With the high cost of going to the movies, watching movies from home is not only convenient, but a great money-saver. The only downside to this is that you miss out on being one of the first to see the movie. Not to mention, you are risking bumping into spoilers online, particularly social media, where there are no spoiler warnings. This is going to ruin the experience for you.

However, if you don’t mind the wait (or the spoilers), streaming is the best choice! Now, I highly recommend watching this movie over opening weekend. This is set to be the biggest movie of the summer and is best experienced on the big screen. Still, if you would rather wait, here’s what we know about Barbie on streaming.

Where will the Barbie movie stream after theaters?

You won’t find this movie on Hulu or Netflix! Both offer a great selection of movies, but when it comes to big feature films, the first streamer on my mind is Max, and this is exactly where Greta Gerwig’s feature will be going!

Barbie is property of Warner Bros. Pictures, which owns the streaming platform Max. That said, this is where we will soon be able to stream the movie from. As soon as we get official word on this, we’ll update this post!

When is the Barbie movie streaming online?

We know the movie will head to Max, but when? Before, features from Warner Bros. Pictures would stream on Max (formerly HBO Max) 45 days after the theatrical release. But now, we can’t count on any specific amount of time. That said, we do know it won’t be under 45 days, due to the popularity of the movie and how no other movie has dropped on streaming earlier than the 45-day window. Our best guess is that Barbie will stream on Max in early to mid September 2023. Again, after we learn any official details on the streaming release, we’ll let you know!
