What is Fellow Travelers about?
The “epic love story and political thriller” centers around Hawkins Fuller and Tim Laughlin, per the synopsis. The show takes place across four decades as the characters meet in the ’50s, face the Vietnam protests in the ’60s, live through the era of drugs in the ’70s, and deal with the AIDS crisis in the ’80s.
Hawkins leads a “financially rewarding” career in politics and doesn’t get into relationships, that is until he meets Tim. Tim on the other hand is “brimming with idealism and religious faith.” The two men begin a relationship just as U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy and prosecutor Roy Cohn “declare war on subversives and sexual deviants,” according to the synopsis. Will they be able to face these challenges?
Lucky for us, Showtime has shared the trailer of course, as well as a bunch of sneak peeks ahead of the show’s release. With each new video unveiled, it just has me more and more excited for the series! Check them all out below:
Cast: Who stars in the new show?
As mentioned above, the new television production stars Matt Bomer as Hawkins Fuller and Jonathan Bailey as Tim Laughlin. The former talent has definitely been busy throughout his career, and we love to see it! His most notable roles include Bryce Larkin on Chuck, Neal Caffrey in White Collar, Ken in Magic Mike, as well as Andy in American Horror Story season 5.
Any fellow Bridgerton fans here of course know Bailey as Lord Anthony Bridgerton in the Netflix hit series. He’s definitely one of my favorite characters! The talent actually began his career at only eight years old on stage as Gavroche in Les Misérables as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company productions. We shared the full cast list below:
- Matt Bomer as Hawkins Fuller
- Jonathan Bailey as Tim Laughlin
- Jelani Alladin as Marcus
- Allison Williams as Lucy
- Noah J. Ricketts as Frankie
