We are diving back into the world of The Walking Dead for another spinoff with The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. We see the return of fan-favorite Norman Reedus return to the lead role. Below, we share our spoiler-free review of the series and let you know if it’s worth checking out.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon sees Daryl wash ashore in France and struggling to piece together how he got there. The series follows his journey through France as he hopes to find his way home. Reedus returns as Daryl Dixon, starring alongside Clémence Poésy, Adam Nagaitis, and Anne Charrier.

The series has a bit of a slow start as we see Daryl try to adapt to the new world that he has stumbled into. You see him struggling to figure out his place while trying to understand how he got there. After one confrontation, he realizes that the place he is at might be the place he might need to stick around to help those being attacked by these mercenaries.

As each episode progresses, we go deeper into the world of Daryl to find his place, and this is where Norman Reedus continues to thrive in the role. Of course we know that Daryl can kick ass and take names, and that’s what we love about him. However, that vulnerable side of his character is where Reedus stands out in this season. You have these other important pieces of the story, but this is the Norman Reedus show, and he delivered in a big way.

One thing I loved about The Walking Dead: Dead City was the more grounded approach to these characters. You don’t have this entire world, instead, this small universe focusing on these legacy characters. It allows you to be more in tune with them.

All of this said, there were some genuinely kick-ass action sequences. In episode four, we have an underwater battle fight that might be one of the best in the series. On top of that, we had some fun new additions to the cast, including Adam Nagaitis as Quinn and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, who were both great in their roles.

Overall, fans of The Walking Dead will be delighted to know that one of their favorite characters gets a chance to shine in a way they’ve never seen before. We get another fantastic spin-off in this universe between excellent writing and Reedus’s performances. I can’t wait for everyone to check out the series.
