If there’s one thing Hocus Pocus does every October, it’s put us under a spell. And I’m a very willing participant! I volunteer as tribute. Ok, referencing another movie now. But you get what I mean! The classic Halloween film featuring the Sanderson Sisters is just a staple every year. You have to watch it! It’s amazing how after all of these years, it’s still such a popular production like Halloweentown and even It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. I can tell you it’s my personal favorite Halloween movie. And if you’re like me, you might be wondering where to stream the film.

The good news is that the fantasy comedy is available to watch online! Hocus Pocus is streaming on Disney+ in 2023. It costs $7.99/month with ads or $10.99/month without ads if you’re not a subscriber. There’s also options to bundle your purchase with Hulu and ESPN as well for a bit f a higher price.

There may be some of you who choose to watch the film on television. Thankfully, you have many chances to do so throughout the spooky month. Where and when are they? We’ve got the answer for you below!

A sequel was released on Disney+ in 2022 and is currently available to stream on the platform. Hocus Pocus 2 is not airing on television this year. There’s also a third movie in the works at Disney+. No release date has been shared yet..

The film stars Bette Midler as Winifred Sanderson, Kathy Najimy as Mary Sanderson, Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson, Omri Katz as Max, Thora Birch as Danni, Vinessa Shaw as Allison, and Jason Marsden. This year, the film is actually celebrating its 30th anniversary. It was first released in 1993. What an amazing milestone! And it still has relevance today.

Why Hocus Pocus is a Halloween classic

The story is centered around Max and his younger sister Dani and takes place on Halloween day. When his crush, Allison, tells a tale he thinks is superstitious, he doesn’t believe her and wants to prove her wrong. Max accidentally brings the Sanderson Sisters back to life. Now up against these witches, the trio have to steal their book of spells to prevent the sisters from becoming immortal and sucking the lives out of all the children of Salem before sunrise.

I personally watch the movie every year on Halloween with my sisters. Just like the Sanderson Sisters, there’s three of us. And I’m the oldest, so I can relate to Winifred at times. Though don’t worry. This hilarious witch is way meaner than I am! But also I love the focus on siblings Max and Dani, The movie emphasizes the love and relationship between siblings, and it’s something I can very easily relate to. That’s why I think the film is such a great option for families to watch together.

It’s a tradition for my sisters and I to celebrate Halloween this way every year, and I love how the film has been able to do that for us. We all lead busy lives and have different tastes in what we like to watch, so this film brings us together and entertains us all at the same time. It’s timeless. Even though we watch it once a year, we laugh at the same jokes, awe at the sweet scenes, and even poke fun at some of the cheesier moments. And whether you’re like my sisters and I, are ready to introduce this to your own family, or you’re watching the film for the first time, I definitely recommend it. You won’t be disappointed. You’ll be in for a bunch of hocus pocus!

Hocus Pocus is currently streaming on Disney+ and available to watch on Freeform and ABC.
