What is the series about?

Black Cake takes place across multiple decades, starting with the late 1960s, and is centered around runaway bride Covey, per the synopsis. She flees to Jamaica, and people don’t know what happened to her – has she drowned, or is she on the run after her new husband’s murder? What really happened? Flash forward to 50 years later in California, a “widowed” Eleanor Bennett, aka Covey, passes following her battle with cancer. She never talked about her past to her two kids when she was alive.
