On today’s episode of The Young and the Restless, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) verbally dressed Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) down and then watched him appear to accept the critique. Jabot has been unstable since Kyle felt forced out of the family business and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) briefly took his spot until Billy took over.

In a recent episode, Mealor’s character was direct with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) when answering her hypothetical career question. Kyle said he would go back to Jabot if Billy was pushed out as requested, which would make them business rivals. Kyle was only half-joking, as he and Audra accepted the transactional nature of corporate life and their relationship.

So, Kyle decided to let Billy believe he accepted his assessment and told his uncle that he did not want to disappoint Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and would be pursuing options beyond Jabot. Kyle updated Jack with that news, with Billy later telling his brother that he suspects Kyle is colluding with Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John), who later pushed for Mealor’s character to prove himself.

What happened today on The Young and the Restless?

A meeting at Society furthers the plot, as Tucker tells Ashley Abbott McCall (Eileen Davidson) that he is pursuing an annulment. Previously seeking Tucker out in his Genoa City Athletic Club suite did not help. Tucker remained as irascible as ever. That conversation indicated their talk of splitting would soon become official.

It was interesting to see Ashley drop her guard, just as it was to see Tucker sob after she departed. Yes, she was attempting to learn what he was planning against Jabot but her deeper hope of reconciling was reinforced. But unless a remarkable turnaround happens, this couple is done, and McCall will be dropped from Ashley’s name again.

The plan to keep Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) off-balance continues as Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) throws more curve balls at Newman Enterprises. He told Nate about the Newman children wanting to exploit his supposed weakened state. Dominic’s character tries to dissuade Victor and suggests a leave of absence that would allow him to be tested by specialists.

Devoted viewers and even anti-Mustache fans should give him backhanded credit for playing an extremely manipulative game. His efforts have Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) doubting reality.

Viewers were privy to Victor’s confidential discussions with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). But fans may be wondering if the ruse he claims to be pulling also includes mental slippage. Adam, who believes he pushed his father over the edge, talked with Victor. Braeden’s character continued to gaslight by mentioning Kirsten Incorporated, seemingly forgetting he returned the company to Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case).

The GCAC is the setting where Nick and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) cross paths. They discussed Victor’s mental health issues and Adam’s involvement in the process. Sally unsuccessfully tried to soothe Nick’s misgivings about his brother. Adam was there when they went to the lobby. Sally left and Adam convinced Nick to join him in a meeting with Victor where a doctor will be present.
