Andor season 2 is coming in 2024! Here’s what to know about this terrific new season of the Star Wars prequel series!

While there are a few Star Wars shows on Disney+, Andor has been far and away the most acclaimed. The show has Diego Luna reprising his role from Rogue One as Cassian Andor. The series takes place five years before the movie, showing the formation of what will become the Rebel Alliance against the Empire.

The series has been fantastic, mixing together plotlines from Cassian stuck in a prison to the politics of the Empire to how Senator Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) is beginning to lay the seeds for the Rebellion while serving in the Imperial Senate.

The first season culminated in a full-on uprising on Cassian’s home world of Ferrix and his decision to join a rebel group. The post-credits scene revealed that the devices the prisoners in that jail had been working on were the laser dish for the Death Star. That was a fantastic finale, but what can folks expect for season 2?

Everything to know about Andor season 2

The show looks to pick up shortly after the season 1 finale and will continue to balance the tales of Cassian’s new journey, Mothma building the Rebellion, and the political backbiting of the Imperials.

Speaking to Deadline, creator Tony Gilory talked about how season 2 will feature some time jumps.

"“When we come back, it’ll be literally like a Friday, Saturday, Sunday. And then, we’ll jump a year, and then it’ll be, like, four or five days, and then we’ll jump a year, and then there’ll be another four or five days, and then we jump a year, and be another four or five days. Our last block is the last three days before Rogue One. So, the last shot will be walking into Rogue One. So, you can imagine that we have to do a lot of interlacing at the end, with the [Star Wars] calendar.”"

It’s been confirmed the second season will also be the last, with the idea that the final episode leads directly into the events of Rogue One. Obviously, many other details are being kept under wraps, but this should be a great entry in the Star Wars timeline.

Most of the cast should be back, including Luna, O’Reilly, Kyle Soller as Syril Kran, Denise Gough as Dedra Meero and Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael. Forest Whitaker will reprise his role as insurgent Saw Gerrera.

Fans are wondering if Andy Serkis will be back as Kino Loy, Cassian’s prison friend. While he couldn’t take part in the big escape, Serkis did weigh in about his character’s arc and shared the following with Entertainment Weekly:

"“Well, there weren’t really many discussions about the afterlife of Kino. All that we do know is that he survives. I mean, we don’t see him die. We see him left for a further life of the character. But prior to that, there were no discussions at all about [what] might happen afterwards. I was just excited enough about the arc that I had to play, which was a really beautifully crafted illustration of a man who has a belief system that gets broken that then has nothing to believe in, that then gets kind of reignited by someone who inspires him to find himself again, and then self-sacrifices.”"

So it’s up in the air on whether Serkis will return for season 2. It is, however, confirmed that Benjamin Bratt will be joining in a yet-unknown role. Cassian’s droid buddy K-2S0, played by Alan Tudyk, will also be in Andor‘s final season.
