On Friday, Nov. 10’s episode of The Young and the Restless, Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) forgot about his dinner plans with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) when committing to Christine Blair Williams (Lauralee Bell). He did so because Daniel (Michael Graziadei) canceled at the last minute and because Cricket was in distress. Phyllis was bothered but not surprised by the change.

Devoted viewers know the history. Danny and Christine were an ’80s sensation and married in 1990. But Stafford’s outperformed in her 1994 cast debut, in what was supposed to be a short-term role. In so doing, she launched her career with Phyllis being a force in Genoa City through to today.

Christine’s replacement of Phyllis on Danny’s dinner card furthers the reunion hopes fans have held for decades. Christine divorced Danny because of Phyllis and was married to Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) from 1996 through 2001. She and Paul divorced but later remarried in 2013. The current storyline spelled the sad end of their reunion and opened the daytime door to Danny.

What happened on The Young and the Restless, Nov. 10

Meanwhile, back at Genoa City Hospital, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) escaped death. After waking he asked Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) why she was there before his doctor, Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), Nina Webster (Tricia Cast), and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) arrived. Viewers and the gathered crowd learned through Chance’s description that he was shot when a suspect returned to gather evidence from a crime scene.

It was interesting to see Nina compliment Summer on being there for Chance and Lanier’s character saying he supported her during Phyllis’ death hoax. Sharon, who picked up on the increasing instances of Summer being in Chance’s proximity, mentioned Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) but that nudge was dismissed.

An intriguing scene took place after Summer and Sharon left Chance’s room. Summer began to cry, and Sharon offered measured compassion. Lanier’s character admitted that the news about Chance deeply affected her. Case’s character previously recognized Lanier’s feelings but must now question where the heart of Floyd’s character lies.

The ladies had a later interaction where Summer daydreamed about telling Sharon she cares about Chance. This part of the plot felt a bit forced with Summer purposefully created as a romantic option or distraction for Chance.

The narrative of Chance leaving the police force was revisited during a brief conversation with his mom. One wonders if a career change is coming and whether it will involve Summer.

Shutout by Danny, Phyllis was in touch with Summer and learned about Chance. But Summer bristled when her mother offered opinions about Chance after she mentioned having feelings for him. Phyllis tried to encourage her by saying Sharon would always be tied to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). That felt like a projection of her thoughts about Christine’s tie to Danny.

Daniel and Lily had dinner at the Genoa City Athletic Club. They returned to Daniel’s new penthouse and continued to discuss whether Heather Stevens’ (Vail Bloom) return bothered Lily. Khalil’s character initiated a romantic moment to answer Daniel’s question.

Next. Chance wakes up with Summer by his side and Sharon looking on (Young and the Restless, Nov. 9 recap). dark
