On today’s episode of The Young and the Restless, Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) tried to determine what lies ahead for Chancellor-Winters now that they know about Tucker McCall’s (Trevor St. John) collusion with their great aunt, Mamie Johnson (Veronica Redd). However, Nate Hastings’ (Sean Dominic) recent interception of a text Mamie received could further her plans.

Viewers recall that Nate confirmed the connection Devon suspected. Mamie’s subsequent talk with Ashley Abbott McCall (Eileen Davidson) changed her mind about continuing a business partnership with Tucker.

Devon and Lily were not in favor of Mamie’s plan to oust Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) from Chancellor-Winters or to welcome Nate back to the fold. But Lily is reconsidering making peace with Nate and asked James’ character to do the same. So, Devon contacted Nate about meeting.

Meanwhile, Lily is also dealing with another personal issue that has become more complex. Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) has an arguably broader relationship history with Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei). The decision Heather made to move back to Genoa City, Wisconsin, was tied to Lucy Romalotti’s (Lily Brooks O’Briant) reconnection with her dad.

But the audience knows what Lily’s instincts support, Heather still loves Daniel. Their breakup happened because Daniel went to a so-called dark place. That backstory was invented so a romantic triangle between Daniel, Lily, and Heather could form. Graziadei’s character shelved whatever remaining feelings he had for Heather and transferred his romantic attention to a renewed relationship with Lily.

Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) discussed ideas about Daniel’s penthouse redesign. While that trio is together, Heather and Lucy arrived and O’Briant’s character was thrilled Daniel included a room for her. That upswing is contrasted by Chloe later telling Sally all is not well at Marchetti under Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier).

The great Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) could be portrayed as a flawed, paranoid business head in the twilight of his career if the world knew what he has been doing to three of his children and Nate in recent weeks. But, for now, the only people who are aware of Victor’s erratic behavior are Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), who is in on the ruse, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Nate.

After angrily telling Victoria, Nick, and Adam to meet him at Newman Enterprises for a meeting, Victor initially claimed he feared a declining mental state. Nate pitched his idea of Victor receiving treatment out of town under the cover of an extended absence or vacation. Adam disagreed, wanting Victor to get treatment in GC.

A turning point arrived when Victoria sided with Adam, agreeing that Victor would be better off at home. Victor reconfirmed that Nate wanted him to leave town and have Victoria temporarily head the company. Braeden’s character then included Nikki when revealing that he was dropping the ruse and announced Nate was fired, which may foreshadow his return to CW.
