Jennifer Aniston is joining her fellow Friends co-stars in honoring Matthew Perry’s memory with a post, remembering him and saying goodbye. The cast has been posting tributes about the late actor after his sudden passing on Oct. 28, 2023 at the age of 54. He was found unresponsive in a hot tub and the reason for his death is still being looked into.

Since then, it’s taken a while for his former cast mates – Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc (who was the first to share a tribute), Jennifer Aniston, and Lisa Kudrow – to share some of what they’re feeling. And honestly, we absolutely cannot blame them. It’s taken some time for them to grieve and put into words how they’re feeling. And now, Aniston is the latest of Perry’s friends to do so.

On Nov. 15, 2023, the Rachel actress gave fans a bit of an inside look at their real-life friendship, that continued even after the popular comedy. She notes how the most important thing to Perry was to make people laugh, how well he did so, and shared a text between the two about him saying just that. She ends her tribute message with a nod to Chandler’s iconic saying, “could I BE more…” We shared the Instagram post and full tribute below:

"Oh boy this one has cut deep… Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before. We all experience loss at some point in our lives. Loss of life or loss of love. Being able to really SIT in this grief allows you to feel the moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone that deep. And we loved him deeply. He was such a part of our DNA. We were always the 6 of us. This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be.

For Matty, he KNEW he loved to make people laugh. As he said himself, if he didn’t hear the ‘laugh’ he thought he was going to die. His life literally depended on it. And boy did he succeed in doing just that. He made all of us laugh. And laugh hard.In the last couple weeks, I’ve been pouring over our texts to one another. Laughing and crying then laughing again. I’ll keep them forever and ever. I found one text that he sent me out of nowhere one day. It says it all. (See the second slide…)

Matty, I love you so much and I know you are now completely at peace and out of any pain. I talk to you every day… sometimes I can almost hear you saying “could you BE any crazier?”Rest little brother. You always made my day…❤️🕊️"

I can tell you reading the posts from the Friends cast this week has just gotten the waterworks going for me. They’re so emotional and absolutely heartbreaking. I can’t even begin to imagine what they’re going through right now and how they’re feeling. But somehow, they’ve found some words to share with us and pay tribute to such a hilariously brilliant actor.

Before all these emotional tributes were shared, on Oct. 31, 2023, Perry’s onscreen wife Courtney Cox, Chandler’s oldest friend David Schwimmer, his bestie Matt LeBlanc, and Chandler’s best gal friends Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow released the following joint statement via People:

"We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."
