On Monday, Nov. 20’s episode of The Young and the Restless, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) made a decision that impacted his family and its business. He agreed to take his dad’s offer and become Chief Operating Officer at Jabot. However, he was unsure about his mother’s plan for him to try and ferret information out of Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) while playing Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) and not telling Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) until he hit paydirt.

However, viewers know that Tucker told Audra he expected Kyle to have cold feet and for Jack to send him back as a mole. Audra received a text from Kyle and relayed that to Tucker, with both people thinking Jack was behind the intended use. While this cat-and-mouse game is becoming tiring, a potentially useful twist exists in having Diane lead Kyle rather than Jack.

Of course, Tucker’s apathy about Kyle is connected to his serious family dilemma. The efforts to partner with Mamie Johnson (Veronica Redd) recently collapsed, again endangering his already frayed relationship with Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James).

What happened today on The Young and the Restless? (Nov. 20)

It has not been a good look having Devon oppose Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Tucker simultaneously. Devoted viewers recall that Devon’s clear draw to Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) unnerved Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy). Plus, the slow-burn of developing his friendship with Abby Newman Abbott (Melissa Ordway) into romance wronged Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd). So, James’ character appears to be projecting duplicity onto Nate and Tucker.

Telling Tucker that he’s not allowed to be involved with his family is a harsh decision that Devon makes. That left St. John’s character on edge when Ashley Abbott McCall (Eileen Davidson) met with him. Ashley witnessed the last part of Devon pushing Tucker off, and questioned her estranged husband about it. She then convinced Tucker to allow her to try and serve as a go-between with Devon, who told Abby what happened with his dad.

Back at the Abbott mansion, Ashley updated Jack. Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and Kyle supported her effort, with Jack offering concern. Later, when Ashley and Abby met at Society, Ordway’s character was uncertain whether her mother’s involvement would help.

At Crimson Lights, Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) suggested that Chance work at Chancellor-Winters. Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) encouraged him to consider that option and he later left a message for Jill.

Just as the games between Kyle and Audra were a bit stretched, so too was the tension between Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), Devon, and Nate. It’s time for the writers to resolve this family dilemma to push the plot forward. That may have happened when Lily, Devon, and Jill discussed Tucker’s alignment with Mamie.

It was wonderful to see Redd return to the cast. Mamie’s arrival in Genoa City is part of the year-long celebration of Y&R’s fifty years on television. So, Mamie and Nate’s arrival at the penthouse Lily now lives in felt like all sides are coming together. Redd’s character said she’s no longer tied to Tucker and was urged by Devon to tell them the truth, with that reveal linked to his and Lily’s willingness to let Nate return to CW.
