Loki just wrapped up its second season with an intriguing finale. Is there a chance for Season 3 or perhaps for a spinoff? Here’s what we know!

Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for the Loki Season 2 finale.

Season 2 of Loki sent Tom HIddelston’s god on a wild journey through time to try and prevent the absolute destruction of the multiverse. The Season 2 finale put him in a classic “time loop,” trying to prevent further destruction but kept coming up short.

In the end, Loki realized there was only one way to stop the multiverse from unraveling. He wove the various multiverse threads into the World Tree Yggdrasil, linking the Nine Realms to Earth and stabilizing it. But, there was a price, as Loki had to sit at its center for eternity as the keeper of the Sacred Timeline.

It’s up in the air if this is the end, as Hiddleston himself has been coy on if he’d play Loki again. There’s also how Marvel may be shuffling some of its slate (particularly as Jonathan Majors, whose Kang was going to be a huge part of Phase 5, faces assault charges). So does this mean there’s no season 3?

Could a Loki spinoff happen?

After hinting in interviews that there could be more seasons, executive producer Kevin Wright talked to TVLine about how they don’t want to rush into Season 3, but a spinoff is possible.

"“For two seasons, I’ve loved working with this team… I would love to keep telling those stories with them, in this world. I don’t think any of us would ever want to rush into a Season 3 if there’s not a good story to tell. But I think this team could go off and tell other stories. Maybe it’s not Loki Season 3. Maybe there’s something we can continue to do at the TVA, and it’s like our Better Call Saul to Loki’s Breaking Bad. That would be cool, to me.”"

Wright is correct that a TVA spinoff has a lot of potential. Owen Wilson would be great as Mobius, handling the protection of timelines and offering alternate views of the MCU like the animated What If series. It can also be used as a way for the MCU to adjust things like Kang and other ideas for a good mix of comedy and drama.

This is up in the air as it appears Marvel is rethinking some of their Phase 5 plans. However, the potential in continuing the TVA story is good so even if Loki Season 3 never happens, there’s a chance the TVA itself may continue its unique story in the MCU.
