The fantasy comedy film is also available to rent for $5.99 or buy for $19.99 on multiple platforms. Those include Apple TV, Prime Video, Vudu, Google Play, and YouTube. If you already have a Prime Video or Hulu account, you also have the option of purchasing a Max add-on.

Since its debut in theaters in July 2023, the movie has broken records and been one of the most popular, if not the most popular, films of 2023. According to a Warner Bros. press release, the production is also the highest-grossing global release in the studio’s 100-year history. Wow! But really, we’re definitely not surprised. The production took the world by storm, and it definitely deserves all the positive feedback.

I’m so excited for the Barbie movie to come to streaming! We’ve been waiting months to rewatch this wonderful film once again. And as a fan of the hit production, it’s just so good to know it’s coming to streaming. Plus, there’s another bonus if you’re going to check it out on Max too. Read on below for the details!

Watch Barbie with ASL on Max

What’s really great is that in an effort to promote “themes of inclusion from the film,” the production company is also offering Barbie with ASL on streaming day, with the movie interpreted in American Sign Language. You really don’t see many productions with that option, so I think this is a great move on the company’s end! ASL performer Leila Hanaumi will be the official interpreter, and this version of the movie can be found on the Max app with its own key art with the sign language symbol. Here’s what Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content Casey Bloys said in the press release:

"Max is the premiere destination for storytelling, so being able to share the biggest movie of the year in ASL, the first language for many, will make this story resonate in a more meaningful way. By offering sign language interpretation, we will build upon the film’s empowering message of inclusiveness and offer a unique viewing experience for the Deaf community to enjoy with family and friends."

On Dec. 14, 2023, Max is hosting a special screening in Los Angeles to celebrate Barbie with ASL. The star and titular character herself Margot Robbie, as well as Hanaumi, will be there for a “post-screening conversation.” The event is in collaboration with non-profits Deaf West Theatre and RespectAbility. With the multiple themes of inclusion in the movie and pointing out the many discrepancies we see in our everyday world, it’s wonderful to see the film and company going even beyond that and taking the message of inclusion to the next step.

Barbie stars Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Ariana Greenblatt , Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, Will Ferrell, among others. Journey into Barbie Land where everything is perfect – unless you have a “full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken.” With its deep story and perfectly timed comedic moments, no wonder the film has gotten all the praise. And hopefully it keeps coming. This movie deserves it!
