Reunited and it feels so good! Boston Blue season 2 will feature an exciting cameo from Will Estes' Jamie Reagan, and we finally have more details on what brings him to Boston.
According to co-showrunner Brandon Sonnier via TVLine, Jamie will make his Boston Blue debut in season 2, episode 5. A police conference brings him to town following some changes in his life and helps him reunite with his brother Danny.
Based on the behind-the-scenes photos posted on Instagram, the character will also interact with members of the Silver family while in Boston.
While these spoilers don't offer a ton of specifics on Jamie's return, they do reveal some interesting details.
One of the reasons Jamie visits Boston is police business. He's in town for a police conference, and while this seems straightforward, it also sets the stage for a little team-up between Jamie and Danny.
In season 1, the BPD worked with the NYPD on multiple cases, with Baez as their representative. Therefore, there is precedent for the two police departments working together to solve cases despite being over 200 miles apart.
It would be nice to see Jamie and Danny work together again. The brothers have had their share of disagreements, but when it comes to solving cases, they make a good team.
Aside from routine cop business, the spoilers for Estes' cameo also allude to personal changes in Jamie's life.
In Blue Bloods' series finale, Jamie and Eddie announced they were having a baby, much to the Reagans' excitement. In season 1 of Boston Blue, it was revealed that the two had a baby boy, whom they named Joe Francis Reagan. Jamie even sent Danny a photo of the baby in a cute onesie that had his name printed on the front.
That said, Jamie's personal changes could refer to anything. We find it hard to believe it's something as drastic as Jamie and Eddie getting a divorce. The two have been solid for years, and it would shock many if Boston Blue's writers messed that up.
It's more likely that Jamie got a promotion following the events of the Blue Bloods series finale. He has always excelled at police work, and there is a reason he has been sent to attend a police conference in Boston.
It's also possible that the "personal changes" alluded to in the spoilers refer to Jamie's new role as a father. We haven't seen Jamie since he and Eddie announced their pregnancy, so the writers could be trying to bring Boston Blue's audience up to speed.
Either way, we are excited for Jamie's cameo in season 2!
