911 and 911: Nashville had yet another crossover, although this time it was brief and featured both Evan “Buck” Buckley and Captain Howie “Chimney” Han. How did the pair get involved with an emergency that reminiscent of the past?

911: Nashville’s opening emergency involved the rescue of a baby that was heard crying inside the walls of an apartment complex. When they couldn’t figure out how to do this rescue, Michael Provost’s Ryan Hart recalled hearing about a similar emergency that occurred in Los Angeles. He heard this from Buck himself after they were out drinking after the firefighter games, which took place in season 1, episode 12 during the first major crossover between both series.

911 and 911: Nashville's mini crossover involved some familiar faces for a quick scene

Fans of 911 will remember that back in the Pilot episode of the original series, Buck was still a probie with the 118 when they had a similar rescue involving an infant. So he became an asset for the 113 crew when they needed help figuring out how to rescue the baby. He even suggested they avoid using an axe, which he almost did use as a probie before Bobby stopped him.

Buck was busy battling a volcano; however, he did his best to help despite the circumstances. Chimney briefly appeared too, trying to figure out why Buck was on the phone in the middle of an emergency. However, once Buck explained the baby in the pipe emergency and that he was giving them advice based on how Bobby walked them through it, Chimney allowed him to keep going.

With Buck’s help over the phone, the 113 were able to rescue the premature baby boy. Now while Buck’s own rescue of the original pipe baby was successful, one main difference was that they only had to rescue one baby. Instead, the 113 found out another baby was in the walls and that the young mother had twins.

Luckily, everything worked out, and Buck got to be a big help to the 113 despite the craziness and terror happening in Los Angeles. But it was a fun throwback to the first season of 911 and allowed us to get a look into how the teams could be an asset to one another. Plus, now that we know Ryan and Buck exchanged numbers, there is always a chance for more crossovers between the shows!

Now we just need to know what other emergencies Buck shared with the 113 because we do love reliving some of the 118’s best rescues.

911 still has another episode left as the team battles their volcano emergency, and 911: Nashville has also been delivering some exciting emergencies as well, especially with the addition of Ryan Phillippe to the series. So far, the premiere episodes of the shows have been so fun to watch, and we’re looking forward to seeing how both seasons continue to keep up the momentum.

911 and 911: Nashville air on Thursdays on ABC back to back beginning at 8/7c.
