FBI has just announced who will be playing the new man in Isobel’s life, and it’s a face well known to TV viewers!
FBI has often put the focus more on the day-to-day cases than the private lives of the agents. There have been exceptions, such as OA bonding with his girlfriend Gemma, including a recent episode where their romantic trip was interrupted by a hijacking. There’s also Maggie wrestling with raising the daughter of a late friend while Scola and co-agent Nina are raising a child.
Jubal has also gotten some good focus reconciling with his ex-wife as they raise their son. That’s left Isobel (Alana de la Garza) mostly out of the loop in terms of any romantic or private talk.
That’s why it was so surprising when Season 7, Episode 11 had Isobel talking to OA after the latter was troubled on a case. In a moment that came as much of a surprise to OA as the audience, Isobel revealed she had gotten married a few months earlier. Not only that, but the man also had three daughters, meaning Isobel was now a stepmom.
It was an unexpected revelation, given viewers had never seen Isobel even dating. It does tie in to her talk on keeping the private and professional lives of the agents separate, something OA could agree with. Naturally, fans have been buzzing about who Isobel’s husband is and who might play him, and we finally have an answer!
Who’s playing Isobel’s husband on FBI?
TVLine confirmed an upcoming episode will have Tom Cavanaugh appear as Isobel’s husband, Phillip. We don’t know much yet about his business or how he and Isobel met. However, it will be great to finally put a name to this unanticipated marriage.
Cavanagh is a face well-known to TV viewers. He broke out in 2000 in the cult NBC romantic comedy Ed. He’s since appeared in numerous TV shows, including various Law & Order episodes, Blue Bloods, Scrubs, and more.
Cavanagh’s best-known role was Harrison Wells, the scientist on The Flash who was revealed as the evil Reverse-Flash Eobard Thawne. Cavanagh expanded the role to play over a dozen different versions of Wells from various alternate Earths, showing his amazing range.
Cavanagh is a good choice for the part. He has an everyman aspect that lends well to whatever business Phillip is into and is believable as the father of three daughters. He has a good humor and is believable as a foil for Isobel.
His episode likely will just have him at home with Isobel or maybe dropping by the office. There’s also a chance he’s somehow involved in a case with Isobel facing the conflict of investigating her spouse. Hopefully, this will explain how they met and kept their wedding down low.
So, for FBI fans feeling left out we never saw Isobel walk down the aisle, meeting her hubby will make up for it and provide some new drama!
