We’ve got a first look at the newest FBI crossover, which is a fun one for fans!
FBI doesn’t do as many crossovers as, say, the One Chicago shows. The logistics are an issue with FBI: International filming overseas, while FBI: Most Wanted takes the team across the country a lot.
FBI has mostly settled on “mini-crossovers” which are usually Isobel (Ana de la Garza) popping up on Most Wanted or Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) talking on video to the Fly Team. The most common connection has been between Stuart Scola (John Boyd) and his girlfriend, Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten).
The pair haven’t tied the knot but are living together and raising a child with Nina a regular on FBI: Most Wanted. Scola did a brief cameo on Most Wanted and Nina returned the favor popping up on FBI.
Now, TV Insider has revealed details of the next mini-crossover that puts Nina more in the center of the action!
Why is Nina coming to FBI?
TV Insider showed the first peeks, including pics, of the Tuesday, Feb. 25 episode, titled “Unearth.” Unlike the previous guest turn, where Nina was just around briefly, she’ll be part of this case, which is connected to Scola.
“After two jurors for a high-profile mafia trial are gunned down, the team jumps into an organized crime investigation until it is discovered that the jurors may not have been the intended targets at all. The case becomes personal for Scola when he learns that one of his former drill instructors from the military academy he attended may be linked.”
Boyd had hinted at this episode delving into Scola’s past. The pictures show Nina with the team, and she and Scola interrogating someone. While this may be due to her personal connection with Scola, maybe some part of the case brings Nina in due to her connections with the Most Wanted team.
This guest star turn explains why VanSanten was absent from the FBI: Most Wanted episode “Ars Moriendi.” Nina was explained as being absent to check on her sister, who was beaten by her troubled husband. Obviously, that was the excuse for VanSanten to film her turn on FBI.
This looks to be a good focus on Scola and having Nina by his side makes sense. While both aren’t ready for marriage yet, their relationship is tight, and Scola can use Nina’s support in a case that’s likely to reopen some old wounds.
These mini-crossovers appear to be the best links between the FBI shows for now. Mounting a big three-show crossover when one show films overseas is pretty challenging and hard to pull off. Plus, it makes sense for the storyline to have Nina around rather than another Most Wanted agent to help.
It’s a fun connection between the shows to make this FBI crossover a great one to watch!
FBI airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on CBS.
