Found just revealed Heather’s identity and it’s a major twist for the show! We look at what it could mean for the future of the series.
Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for Found Season 2, episode 17
Season 2 of Found has kept the various wild storylines going as the team keeps searching for missing people. The good news is that Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) has finally been captured and in prison. However, he insists on trying to “help” Gabi (Shanola Hampton) despite how she hates him for keeping her captive for years.
Meanwhile, Margaret (Kelli Williams) seems to have finally found her son Jamie, whose vanishing as a child wrecked her life and family. While the team first doubted Jamie was Jamie (Dhan thinking he could be a spy for Sir), they seem to now accept he’s Margaret’s son.
Also, Trent (Brett Dalton) had been having an affair with lawyer Heather (Danielle Savre) who was attacked by one of Sir’s acolytes. Trent was naturally thrown when Heather became Sir’s lawyer.
In “Missing While Manipulated”, the team handled a unique case as a father who went to jail thanks to Gabi took her hostage in the office to force her to find his missing son. That was a big deal, but the ending was bigger.
Who is Heather in Found?
In the closing moments, after finding that kid, Margaret met with Gabi to share how she’d used her expert observational skills when meeting Heather at the prison. Between the way she talked, the verbal tics and more, Margaret realized the truth: Heather is Sir’s sister, Lena.
This means that Sir’s secret accomplice earlier in the season wasn’t his half-brother Chrisitan but Heather, who was likely using Trent to get information about her brother’s case. It’s a big turn as the team is keeping quiet, they know, as they try to figure out Sir’s game.
Speaking to TV Insider, Gosselaar, who directed the episode, related that the Heather reveal was going to take place earlier in the episode, but he felt it would be effective coming at the end, which was the right call. It’s a good capper and cliffhanger for the story.
The actor shared how we’ll see Heather (or rather, Lena) in a new light with coming episodes featuring flashbacks on their childhood and how Sir protected her. The question is how twisted that turned Lena into. It also obviously puts more tension on the Sir/Gabi dynamic.
"Well, I think it ratchets up the danger that will sort of blanket all of the characters in M&A and in our world. You’ll start to see Heather, because of her strong backbone, sort of make choices without Sir either knowing or giving his blessing. And that’s a dangerous combination. We just do a really good job of, okay, we found out what’s going to happen now and then the throttle gets pressed even harder. Instead of just letting up, it’s going to continue to move forward."
The key to the show is always that Sir truly and honestly believes his adbuction of Gabi was a good thing, turning her into the crusader she now is. He thinks they’re meant to be partners and she’ll eventually come around to accepting him.
The truth, of course, is that Gabi recognizes Sir as a narcissistic monster and while she uses him for info, will never be “his.” Expect a cat-and-mouse game of Gabi and Heather clashing with Sir’s own games playing into it.
As it races toward its season finale, Found is only ratcheting up the heat that could lead to another huge clash.
Found season 2 airs Thursdays at 10/9c on NBC.
