Grey’s Anatomy is adding a Yellowstone vet to the mix for an arc that has big implications for Amelia! We have the details of what to expect.
Grey’s Anatomy is always known for its great history of having some big guest stars added on. Some are around for just an episode or two while others get longer story arcs. A few small-time guest stars can even become regulars, like Sara Ramirez’s Callie.
Now, TVLine has announced another notable guest star turn for the last episodes of season 21. Piper Perabo, last seen on the hit Yellowstone, will arrive in episode 16, which airs on Thursday, May 1. She’ll be around for the next two episodes, including the season finale on Thursday, May 15.
Who will Piper Perabo play in Grey's Anatomy?
Per the article, Perabo will play Jenna Gatlin, a mother whose nine-year-old daughter, Dylan, is at Grey Sloan for a high-risk brain surgery, with Caterina Scorsone’s Amelia handling the surgery. As anyone who's seen the show knows, there's no such thing as a "routine" surgery for Amelia.
This may bring back some harsh memories for Amelia. As fans will remember, the character debuted on the spinoff Private Practice and one plotline had her becoming pregnant. Tragically, the baby was born without a brain, and poor Amelia was forced to bring it to term and give birth to a child she knew would never survive.
That trauma haunted Amelia for a bit, although thankfully, she later had a healthy son named Scout. Still, handling a child with a brain condition will be tough for Amelia (who also had to fight her own brain tumor).
It promises to be a dramatic turn for the show, and Perabo should be a great woman who can bring it to life!

Piper Perabo has been a familiar face for movie and TV viewers for 25 years. She broke out in the 2000 box office hit Coyote Ugly with turns in films such as Cheaper By the Dozen and its sequel, The Prestige, Olympus Has Fallen and more.
In television, Perabo had a starring turn as CIA agent Annie Walker in the USA Network hit Covert Affairs, which ran for five seasons. She’s since starred in shows like Notorious and The Big Leap. Most recently, Peerabo had a big recurring turn as environmentalist Summer on the hit Yellowstone and a recurring role on Billions.
Perabo is well-suited for the world of Grey’s Anatomy with her charm and lovely appeal. She can be believable as a mother, bantering with Amelia, yet also nail the dramatic turns of a child facing a dangerous surgery. The actress is wonderful in most of her TV appearances so adding Grey’s will be nice.
It also promises a much-needed new spotlight on Amelia that lets her put some ghosts of her past to rest. So, Grey’s Anatomy fans can be sure that Perabo will bring extra energy to the final episodes of season 21.
