The first look for NCIS: New York is here, and it is already gearing up to be an exciting event! The newest spinoff that will bring back LL Cool J as Agent Sam Hanna also stars Scott Caan as his new partner, and we’re looking forward to seeing how Sam is brought back to New York.
In the new first-look trailer from the NCISverse Instagram page, we see Hanna getting to work as the narrator describes his work history and saying, “He likes to be out in the wild.” Audiences got a look into his new dynamic with Caan’s Special Agent Nick Schaeffer. It looks like the two will get along right away, with the latter already knowing about Sam.
The teaser follows their banter while also showing scenes of the duo investigating crimes and at one point, Sam makes a promise to someone to find out what happened on a case. Based on one line of dialogue, it looks like Sam may not have joined the team yet when the show will premiere.
Based on the scene where he says “I appreciate you guys letting me run with you on this one,” it seems like Sam is there to help during an investigation. Something must occur where he decides to stay since the teaser ends with the line, “Big Sammy’s coming home.”
The teaser also has a quick peek at Jennifer Beals as Robyn Wells, who is the director of the field office where they work. We don’t know much about what is happening yet, but the teaser made sure to draw us in by giving us a look into how Sam may end up in the Big Apple after being in LA for so long and then traveling for work.
While we don’t know if we will at any point see any former co-stars from NCIS: Los Angeles, we’re excited to see what Sam will bring to this new version of NCIS. The show also stars Jacqueline Byers as Addison “Addy” Ross, Shane Harper as Wyatt Hill, and Devin Druid as Sean Sullivan.
The synopsis for the new series states that Hanna will be returning to the Brooklyn field office, where he will team up with Schaeffer, described as a “roguish agent," as they lead a team of agents as they investigate various high-stakes missions to protect the vital ports and cities in New York.
NCIS: New York will premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 6 alongside the original NCIS and NCIS: Origins.
