January 2024 was a busy time on The Bold and the Beautiful as the major storylines for the opening of the year began to take shape. What happened this month will have major repercussions come February as the families deal with changing dynamics and the soap continues to seed a plot involving who Luna's father could be.

There are some key moments that you'll want to remember as we head into the shortest month of the year with February sweeps on the horizon as well. Take note!

Bill and Poppy's romance deepens, but she says he isn't Luna's father

Boppy are the new, fun connection on The Bold and the Beautiful as Bill becomes even more interested in Poppy. The two met over 20 years ago at a music festival, had one special night together, and then never saw each other again until now. They're picking up where they left off and are moving at lightning speed because, as the soap keeps telling us, this seems to be a fated bond.

Due to the heavy handedness of the writing, and the time frame of when they were briefly together in the 2000s, there's been a lot of speculation that Bill is Luna's dad. However, when Luna asked her directly whether he was, Poppy denied that possibility. I'm still of the mind that she could be lying because she was very emotional about wanting to keep it just her and her daughter, and didn't want Luna to continue asking her about who her father is.

Now this could be because Bill is rich and Poppy feels insecure about that which led her to hide her parentage for fear that she would have lost her and now she can't let go of that lie. Or, it could be as Luna's beginning to think, who her father is involves a family secret. That's where things get dicey and uncomfortable because of what Finn revealed.

During his freshman year of college, Poppy lived with him and his parents. They had gotten close at the time but she abruptly left and never gave him a reason why. She could have had an affair with his dad, Jack, which would make Luna his sister. Or, and this is what I'm hoping didn't happen, she got caught up with her nephew (which he doesn't remember) and Luna is his daughter. Let's hope that's not the case.

Thomas' involvement with Emma's death doesn't deter Hope from her romance with him

If you thought Hope would break things off with Thomas after she learned the truth about what happened to the former Forrester intern, Emma Barber, she disappointed in that regard. It shook her up to learn that Thomas was on Mulholland Drive that night and that after Emma crashed he didn't get her any help, but in her mind that was the old Thomas and he's done a lot to become a better person since then. But no one else, besides Ridge, knows the full story of that event, so I do wonder if it will come up.

Thomas trusting Hope with that privileged information seemed to only deepen their relationship which is a point in his favor since he'd proposed. Hope has been wearing the ring on a necklace as she decides whether to accept or not. Brooke is desperate for her to reject Thomas, but Hope has already said her choice not to answer yet has to do with herself and the decisions she has to make not because she hasn't moved past Thomas hiding the fact that Beth was alive. Ridge, however, is very much Team Thope and gave them his blessing, individually.

Zende's irritation with RJ about the nepotism isn't over

For those of us completely done with the storyline surrounding Zende's frustration with RJ's meteoric rise at Forrester Creations with no experience, I'm sorry to say The Bold and the Beautiful isn't done with it. While Zende has stopped pursuing Luna since she said she's committed to and in love with RJ, that doesn't mean we won't continue to see the three paired up in scenes.

We ended January with Zende once more bitterly having an issue with RJ's success. It's not that I don't understand, I do. RJ is now a designer at the company, and he's basically been handed the keys to the kingdom without having to do the kind of work the rest of them have had to. But being mad at him for living at the Spencer beach house in the Jan. 31 episode was migraine inducing, especially when RJ is right and Zende should be able to afford a place just like it if he wanted to. This is a plot I hope dies in February.

Eric comes home from the hospital but he has a long recovery ahead of him

I think we can all agree that John McCook deserves a Daytime Emmy for his work in Eric's health crisis storyline. We opened this month with the Forrester patriarch still in the hospital but recovering from the life saving procedure Finn devised. He's home now, among his family, but will remain striving toward getting back to the life he once led prior to his medical emergency.

Despite everything, Eric still hasn't proposed to Donna. It's my hope that he does so at some point in 2024 since she's the woman in his life, and it's about time that they tied the knot once again. But for the time being, the focus is on getting him healthy.

Wyatt says goodbye (sort of)

When Darin Brooks exited The Bold and the Beautiful in Fall 2023 his character hadn't gotten a send off but, thankfully, he got one of a sort in January 2024. Brooks stepped into Wyatt's shoes once more so that we could get an update on what's going on with Bill's middle child.

Apparently, Wyatt's a bit lost in what to do with his life. He asked for Bill's blessing just in case he decides to leave Los Angeles, and he put the beach house up for lease which RJ has now moved into. Time will tell if Brooks comes back for another guest stint, especially if Bill turns out to be Luna's father and the Spencer boys have a little sister to welcome into the family.
