It's unfortunate, but it looks like The Bold and the Beautiful went there with Luna and Zende. Luna woke up, after a drug-filled night, under the impression that she was with RJ only to learn that she was actually wrapped up in his cousin's sheets. She'd popped more than one "mint" at Eric and Donna's wedding celebration, thinking that she was simply freshening her breath, but she'd accidentally picked up her mom's mint tin and not her own earlier in the day.
The consequences of that action left her heartbroken as she learned that she and Zende spent the night together. Her reaction threw him for a loop because from his perspective Luna had been waiting for him. When he found her in his bed, he assumed she took him up on his offer. One thing led to another, and they were intimate. Zende thought what they'd done was beautiful.
Apparently, Luna had been free and inhibited, but she was only like that because of the drugs (which she's not aware of) and because she thought she was connecting with RJ. Since she only had two glasses of champagne, she couldn't figure out how this even happened. All she remembered was that she'd been thirsty so she entered the guest house to get a water bottle. What happened after that is pretty much a blank spot with exception to her knowing she thought she was with her boyfriend and had no idea she'd been interacting with Zende the whole time.
With a growing sense of horror, Zende began to realize that the night they had together was not one that Luna spurred on knowingly. He apologized and expressed that he would never take advantage of her which she waved off because she knows he wouldn't do that to her. But Luna's concern is RJ. She loves him, and he has been nothing but good to her; she can't believe this has happened especially after how special her first time was.
Li grills Poppy about her "mints"
Meanwhile, at the apartment she shares with Luna, Poppy was still in search of her "mints." She, however, was interrupted by Li's arrival. The sisters have been fussing with one another since they were reunited and their scenes today were no different. But we did get some insight into their relationship as children.
Once upon a time, Poppy used to follow Li around. They were inseparable but their bond broke as Poppy got older. Li believes this is because her sister turned her back on the moral structure of the way they were raised and she makes decisions she doesn't approve of. Poppy sees it as Li being upset that she began to have a mind of her own and has trouble allowing them to be different from one another.
One of the decisions that Li isn't onboard with is Poppy's drug use. There seemed to be an implication that Poppy used to have a substance problem. Li believes she hasn't actually kicked it and these "mints" aren't any different. She asked her point blank what they are, how often she takes them, and if Luna even knows her mom does drugs.
Poppy refused to explain herself, but Li did warn that one day those "mints" would bring nothing but trouble. She wasn't wrong but that trouble is on Luna's doorstep and not her own which will likely hurt her more. Poppy has been fiercely protective of her daughter and told Li not to speak of her so negatively since she keeps accusing her of gold digging. She's also been really supportive. It's going to break her heart to find out that it was her own choices that have thrown a wrench in her daughter's happiness.
Said happiness is still in tact for now, at least when it comes to RJ. He couldn't help but share with his parents--Brooke and Ridge--that he and Luna have gotten more serious. RJ has been telling anyone who will listen that he loves her. I'm going to sad to see this bubble be popped. The two have been rather cute but there's likely nothing but drama in the forecast for their future.
See you in the next recap, Bold fans!
