We're nearing the end! Here's the Top 5 of American Idol season 22
Wow, wow, wow. All I can say is all the contestants on tonight's episode of American Idol season 22 brought their A-game. I don't know if it's the pressure of the competition narrowing, a push they needed from the very talented mentor Ciara, or both, but all of them rocked it! I say this every time, but really how could there only be one winner?
Last week we had the Top 7 and this evening, the Idol hopefuls were kept busy! They were tasked with adding some dance to their performances and choosing a tune that made you get up and move, as well as perform an Adele song. And what could be better than that, honestly? So who was able to earn our votes tonight? Find out who made it into the Top 5 below!
Top 5 contestants of American Idol 2024
Alright, Jack Blocker is such a rockstar. I absolutely love him! You guys read about me raving about the singer each week, but he deserves it. I can't believe he almost didn't make it past the auditions. Thankfully judge Luke Bryan saw something special in him and got the crew to vote for him to go to Hollywood.
Superstar Abi Carter has also impressed us every single week, and tonight was no different. Her song choice could have not worked, but she reimagined “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em)” by Fall Out Boy and really made it her own in the best and most dramatic way. And when this girl get on the piano and sang "Hello" by Adele? Chills, chills, chills. Below is the official list of the Top 5 of American Idol 2024:
- Abi Carter, 21 from Indio, California (Platinum Ticket) - “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em)” by Fall Out Boy and "Hello" by Adele
- Will Moseley, 23 from Hazlehurst, Georgia - “Gimme Three Steps” by Lynyrd Skynyrd and “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele
- Jack Blocker, 25 from Dallas, Texas - “Long Tall Sally” by Little Richard and “One and Only” by Adele
- Emmy Russell, 25 from Nashville, Tennessee - “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon and "Water Under the Bridge" by Adele
- Triston Harper, 15 from McIntosh, Alabama - “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” by Travis Tritt and "Easy on Me" by Adele
Who went home on American Idol tonight?
When we're this deep in the American Idol competition, we really start to see the very talented contestants get eliminated and head home who also deserve the chance to win. But, we can only have one American Idol left standing at the end, and tough choices have to be made. Tonight, we said goodbye to McKenna Breinholt and Julia Gagnon.
It's a true shame because both have so much to offer, and Julia really has such a big and powerful voice. It was cool to see her as a Platinum Ticket winner make it so far in the competition. It's impressive and doesn't always happen. Let's see if fellow Platinum Ticket recipient Abi Carter will make it all the way. We shared what these two lovely gals sang tonight:
- McKenna Breinholt, 25 from Gilbert, Arizona - “E.T.” by Katy Perry and “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele
- Julia Gagnon, 21 from Cumberland, Maine (Platinum Ticket) - “Roam” by The B-52’s and “Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele
Tomorrow on Monday, there is no new episode of Idol. Instead, the show is moving to once a week on Sunday nights from now on until the finale on Sunday, May 19, 2024. So next week on May 12, get ready for fan-favorite Disney Night at Disney World! The Top 5 will sing "two beloved favorites from the Disney Songbook" as by the end of the night we're going to know who our Top 3 is going to be of the season, per the synopsis. Oh my goodness!
