Last week, the Top 24 of American Idol 2024 performed in Hawaii across two nights for the chance to continue moving forward in the competition. Voting opened up for the first time during those rounds, and tonight we found out the results of those votes as the contestants made their way back to the Hollywood stage. Who managed to make it through, and whose Idol journey came to an end this evening?

American Idol Top 20 2024

The first contestant who could breathe a sigh of relief tonight was Jack Blocker. This was followed up by the reveal that Mia Matthews would also be coming back next week. I definitely think these two deserve a spot in the Top 20, and I'm happy to see that the rest of you fans agree with me based on our votes!

As the episode continued, Ryan Seacrest revealed the following artists mentored by guest mentor Jellyroll were also safe and would be moving on to the Top 20: Mackenzie Sol, Roman Collins, Kennedy Reid, Ajii, Jennifer Jeffries, Emmy Russell, Triston Harper, and Odell Burton Jr..

Considering Odell is one of this season's three Platinum Ticket contestants, we would have been shocked if he was sent home. Luckily, America voted him through as the last member of Jellyroll's group to make it into the Top 20!

After revealing which 10 contestants from the group of 12 that Jellyroll mentored made it to the Top 20, we shifted our attention to the 12 artists Tori Kelly mentored. The first artist through the Top 20 from this group was Kayko and he would soon be joined by nine more artists from the group including Jordan Anthony, Quintavious, Kaibrienne Richins, Nya, Jayna Elise, Abi Carter, Will Moseley, McKenna Breinholt, and Julia Gagnon.

Here's the full list of the Top 20 below as revealed during the Top 20 performance show! (Note – the following results were updated live during the airing of the episode):

Who went home on American Idol? (Here's who didn't make the Top 20)

It's tough to say goodbye and I'm not going to lie, tonight's eliminations were really difficult. But, this is the way the competition goes and it's only going to get harder and harder as the season goes on.

Our first eliminations of the night came halfway through the episode as Odell Burton Jr. secured the final spot in the Top 20 of the group of 12 artists who were mentored by Jellyroll. This meant that both Elleigh Marie and KBlocks were eliminated and were the first two contestants sent home.

We then shifted our attention to the group of contestants Tori Kelly mentored and again it was a Platinum Ticket artist who was the last to be sent to safety. Julia Gagnon was the final contestant from the second group of 12 to make it into the Top 20 which meant that Blake Proehl and Hailey Mia were eliminated.

Here are the four contestants who were eliminated this evening:

  • Elleigh Marie, 20 from American Fork, Utah
  • KBlocks, 27 from Montgomery, Alabama
  • Blake Proehl, 25 from Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Hailey Mia, 16 from Clifton, New Jersey

Tomorrow night, there's even more goodbyes in store as the Top 20 becomes the Top 14. Yikes! That means six people will head home, bringing their American Idol journey to an end.

10 of them will advance to the next round based on our votes, while the remaining four spots will be determined by judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie. Be sure you don't miss the episode tomorrow, April 15, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Are you ready?
