We're a few months into 2024 but that doesn't mean that we don't still have our minds on The Bold and the Beautiful characters we had to say goodbye to last year. While there were no shocking deaths to contend with or mysterious disappearances that led to an off-screen demise, there was more than one character we bid adieu to before the year closed.

Now that's not to say we won't see them pop up again at some point this year, but we do know that they've been written out as part of the main cast and likely won't be a part of any major storylines. I'll start with a departure we saw coming but hoped wouldn't happen.

Darin Brooks as Wyatt Spencer

When news broke last fall that Darin Brooks would no longer be a part of The Bold and the Beautiful's main cast it had actually come on the heels of eagle-eyed fans noticing he wasn't in the opening credits anymore. Then we officially got word that he would be leaving the soap after a decade on the show. While Brooks did come back this year to somewhat tie-up loose ends regarding his character, it wasn't the satisfying goodbye that longtime fans had hoped for.

The Wyatt we met in 2013 had been cocky with a sense of humor and a penchant for adventure. He'd been raised by his mother, Quinn Fuller, after his father, Bill Spencer, tried to hand her money to get an abortion when he was told that she was pregnant. It was the reason why she never wanted the two to meet but they eventually did once Wyatt struck up a friendship with Hope Logan that later became the romance dubbed Hott by the fans.

Ambitious to a fault, Wyatt dreamed of being the heir of Spencer Publications even though it was clear that while Bill loves all his son's, Liam is his golden boy. Not always a winner in love, Wyatt thought he'd finally found "the one" in Flo, his high school sweetheart who he struck up a relationship with and got engaged to but when Katrina Bowden went off to pursue other opportunities, that romance died in the water and so, too, did much of Wyatt's screen time.

Brooks leaving the soap wasn't a surprise due to the handling of his character which saw him often reacting to other people's storylines, particularly Liam's. While we all hoped that we'd get a good, meaty part for Brooks to portray that day didn't come. Instead, we learned that Wyatt had lost his way which put him on a journey to try to find himself again but off-screen and away from Bill and Liam.

The actor isn't currently on another soap, however, he's reportedly going to reprise the role of Alex Moran in the sequel to Blue Mountain State if its picked up. The comedy series is being shopped.

Krista Allen as Taylor Hayes

Personally, Krista Allen leaving The Bold and the Beautiful hurt my heart. She took the iconic role that Hunter Tylo originated and made it her own. Allen was a fantastic Dr. Taylor Hayes and she breathed new life into the soap because of her ability to work with everyone. I enjoyed her scenes, especially the romance (though short-lived) that had rekindled between Taylor and Ridge.

A disappointing element of the show has been how often Taylor is not there when her children, Steffy and Thomas Forrester, need her. Allen's introduction to the series changed that finally but when it was announced that she was no longer going to be a part of the cast after only spending two years on the soap, we ended up right back where we started.

At the time, Allen had shared the following:

"The craziest thing is right before I got dropped, I did the cast photo shoot, and then the next week they called and said, ‘we’re not going to keep your third year and thank you very much, you were wonderful and thank you, goodbye. And I was like, what? I think the hardest thing for me has been trying to stay quiet. I haven’t known what to say. And then when I got dropped, I was like, ‘oh, okay, is the show going to announce this?’ But they never did. And then on December 10, just recently, it was Taylor’s two-year anniversary [of being back on show], and I came back to Twitter for the first time since June to engage with fans again, just to say thank you because there were so many congratulations and people saying, ‘I can’t wait to see you back on screen’ and ‘when are you coming back?'"

She's not likely to come back considering how this was all handled which means Taylor was here one day on The Bold and the Beautiful and gone the next with no explanation of where she went. To remind you how egregious this is, Steffy killed Sheila Carter and Taylor is nowhere to be seen. This is a cast exit that's going to make me a while to get over, to be honest.
