Extended Family moves to Tuesdays on NBC (Release schedule)
A brand new comedy series is coming to NBC, joining other popular sitcoms like Lopez vs Lopez and Night Court. Even though the premiere of Extended Family is scheduled for a Saturday, new episodes will move to NBC's Tuesday night comedy line-up in 2024.
The sitcom follows a family with two recently divorced parents, Jim and Julia, who are amicably co-parenting their two kids. The official synopsis for Extended Family teases that "navigating the waters of divorce and child-sharing gets more complicated for Jim when Trey, the owner of his favorite sports team, enters the picture and wins Julia’s heart."
When does Extended Family air on NBC?
Extended Family will be joining NBC's comedy line-up on Tuesdays! But audiences will be able to watch the premiere before the new year. The sitcom premieres Saturday, Dec. 23 at 8 pm ET on NBC, with new weekly episodes returning Tuesdays, beginning January 2, at 8:30pm. All episodes will be available to stream next day (Wednesdays) on Peacock.
Following the premiere episode on Saturday, December 23, fans will be treated to the special holiday episode of Night Court, called "The Night Court Before Christmas at 8:30 pm. Night Court and Extended Family will continue to air back-to-back on Tuesdays in 2024.
Even though NBC has not yet announced specific release dates for all the new episodes of Extended Family, it has been confirmed that there will be 13 half-hour episodes in total for the first season. You can expect the season 1 finale to most likely air in late March or early April if the season airs with little interruption.
The first-look video for Extended Family gives more insight as to why Jim and Julia joke that the day they got divorced was the "best day of their lives".
