FBI: International saw a pretty big cast turnover in season 3. First, Heida Reed left in the premiere with her Jamie Kellett written out as taking a new job in Washington with analyst Amanda Wolfe (Christina Tate) stepping in as her replacement.

After joining the team in season 2, Damien Powell (Greg Hovanessian) also left to go back to special operations. Then, in the season finale, team leader Scott Forrester went AWOL to help his fugitive mother in a storyline that was forced by Luke Kleintank leaving the series after three seasons for personal reasons.

The season 3 finale did have Colin Donnell appearing as Brian Lange, a special agent aiding the team. However, rather than be Forrester’s replacement, Lange appears to have only been a guest star role.

Now, we are learning more about the new boss of the team, played by a top Chicago PD star!

Jesse Lee Soffer is joining FBI: International as the new boss

It was announced that Jesse Lee Soffer, who played Jay Halstead on Chicago PD, will be joining the show as new supervisory agent Wesley “Wes” Mitchell. Now, T Line has offered the first peek at Soffer in the role and more about his character.

Wes is described as “charming and rakish, an agent whose impeccable instincts and unconventional tactics fuel his drive to stop at nothing to achieve justice.” However, as showrunner Matt Olmstead explained, Mitchell won’t be in the regular cast when the show returns.

"Wes is not with the team when the season opens as viewers meet him when he is investigating a ‘tourism robbery’ crew in Los Angeles — and dealing with turbulence with his girlfriend," Olmstead teased of where we'll find Wes when the season begins.

It’s likely Mitchell’s investigation takes him to Europe and meets the Fly Team before being promoted to their boss. It will be a big shift for the team to get used to a new leader with a different style, but that won’t be the only new blood coming in.

A Station 19 vet is coming to FBI: International

Not only is Soffer joining the show, but per TVLine, Station 19 veteran Jay Hayden will appear on the show midway through season 4. The actor is best known for his role as Travis Montgomery on the ABC hit, which wrapped up its seven-season run earlier in 2024.

Hayden will play Tyler Booth, described as an “intelligent and charismatic agent in Budapest looking for assistance on a case.” While the role appears to be only recurring, there’s a chance it might become more regular, and there may even be the potential for Booth to join the team if the role clicks with viewers.

So, while FBI: international fans may be reeling from these cast changes, the addition of two new actors looks to spark up Season 4 even more!

FBI: International Season 4 premieres Tuesday October 15 at 9/8c on CBS.
