Killers of the Flower Moon was buzzworthy even before the film debuted in theaters in October 2023! With its stellar leading cast - Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, and Robert De Niro - moving true story, and perceptive director Martin Scorsese behind it, it's definitely no surprise that the movie is up for seven Golden Globe nominations including Best Motion Picture - Drama.

And now, it's getting a new wave of attention as those of you who weren't able to experience it on the big screen will be able to watch the film online just under three months since its theatrical release! Killers of the Flower Moon begins streaming Friday, Jan. 12, 2024 on Apple TV+. What I love about the platform is that it's probably the easiest one to sign up for. There's one subscription option, and there's no ads. Truly the best viewing experience! It costs $9.99/month to watch the movie and other productions available in Apple TV+'s catalog.

The timing of the streaming release date definitely makes sense and is strategic. The Golden Globes air live on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramaount+ with Showtime subscribers. Those with a Paramount+ Essential subscription can watch the ceremony the next day.

With the highly-praised film being nominated in seven categories, I have no doubt it will snag at least one win! It is up against Barbenheimer in several of them, but Killers of the Flower Moon is a strong piece and I think it's going to do well at the awards show. We shared all the Golden Globe noms it's up for below:

  • Best Motion Picture - Drama
  • Lily Gladstone: Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama
  • Leonardo DiCaprio: Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama
  • Robert De Niro: Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
  • Martin Scoresese: Best Director - Motion Picture
  • Eric Roth, Martin Scorsese: Best Screenplay - Motion Picture
  • Robbie Robertson: Best Original Score - Motion Picture

Though the Western crime drama comes in at a whopping three and a half hours, I can honestly say that you don't even feel the time. I don't like when movies are too long, but this one needed that duration to tell the story. You're so engrossed and captivated by what's happening that the time goes by quickly. Believe me, don't let the runtime turn you away from the watching this film!

Killers of the Flower Moon is based on the book of the same name by author David Grann and takes us back to 1920s Oklahoma. The real-life story follows the time period in American history known as the Reign of Terror when a number of "oil-wealthy" Osage Nation members were being killed by "white interlopers" who wanted the wealth for themselves, per the synopsis. At the center is a forbidden-esque love story between World War I vet Ernest (DiCaprio) and Osage woman Mollie (Gladstone).
