NCIS: Hawaii will be back on CBS come Feb. 12 for season 3, and it looks like we’re in for a treat, especially with another character from the NCIS franchise joining the ranks. LL Cool J played Sam Hanna on NCIS: Los Angeles before the show was canceled after 14 seasons. Luckily, we’ll still see him on NCIS: Hawaii’s third season. What do we know so far about his appearance?

In a new sneak peek released by the network, we see Hanna outside a facility with Vanessa Lachey’s Jane Tennant. She plans on going inside while he tells her not to “do anything crazy.” Of course, this advice quickly goes by the wayside.

After a case in the season 2 finale left Jane facing a criminal from a past investigation, Sam is in Hawaii to make sure she's ready to get back to work. So this method of talking to someone may not help matters.

In last season's finale, Tennant was abducted by men associated with a criminal she thought had been long dead. Instead, he was alive and looking for Maggie Shaw, who worked with Jane and was responsible for his “death.” Despite getting away with the help of FBI Agent Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson), Jane was injured.

By the time season 3 premieres on Monday, Feb. 12 at 10 p.m. ET, she will be ready to get back to work after passing a medical evaluation. That’s where Hanna comes in as the one to decide if she is ready to return to the field. They work together on a case involving the hacking of the U.S. Marshal database.

It will be great to see how things work out for Jane after the events of season 2. To catch up on previous episodes, head over to Paramount+.
