Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 is coming quickly. With new episodes set to stream beginning on Thursday, June 6, there’s bound to be things that audiences will need to brush up on to prepare for what the upcoming season will bring! One of those will be Elias Voit, the main unsub from season one. How did the team catch him?

Throughout season 1, the team looked for the mysterious unsub, Sicarius, who had created a network of serial killers. The team had been looking for him while also trying to solve the cases that were connected to him, specifically. Things would come to a head when they appeared to find Tyler Green, who the FBI believed to be their man.

However, Tyler was not Sicarius. In actuality, he was the brother of a murder victim named Allison, who disappeared years ago after going on a date with her boyfriend, Lee. Tyler can’t remember much about him, but he spent years hunting down the man he believed to be responsible, even going so far as to join the serial killer network to infiltrate it to bring him down.

What led the team to discover Elias Voit in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1?

Because the Attorney General wanted to shut the case down, the team was ordered not to look into Sicarius anymore. Despite this, they were still pulled into the case due to the murder of a man named Cyrus LeBran. They found out he took in a nephew named Lee.

As for Lee, aka Elias Voit, the team found surveillance footage from a hardware store that led them to believe this was Sicarius. The footage came after JJ and Luke were almost blown up after finding one of Sicarius’s hideouts. They discovered a deceased dog and due to the tracker on him, they found his owner. Moose had been taken from the store and they discovered footage that showed the man believed to be Sicarius. The footage showed him ignoring a phone call, so Rossi and Garcia used this to determine who was calling him.

Eventually, Rossi decided to go door to door to find him. Despite going to Elias’s home where his wife was, he still slipped through Rossi’s fingers by making his wife believe that they were in danger. Rossi himself ended up a hostage, which only fueled the team’s desire to locate Sicarius.

Elias took his family to a cabin to try and hide out, but eventually, the FBI found them. He was eventually taken into custody, but not before uttering the mysterious phrase, “Gold Star,” to Deputy Director Doug Bailey before killing him.

However, despite being caught, Elias is not done with the FBI. He seems to believe his knowledge of Gold Star can get him a deal. How will this play out? We’ll have to find out when new episodes premiere on Paramount+.

Hopefully you’re all caught up, as there will be a lot to uncover in season two! Make sure to tune into Hidden Remote for recaps and more updates as season two airs during the summer!
