Ridge gives Taylor an emotional ultimatum on Bold and the Beautiful (Oct. 1, 2024)

Is there a dry eye in the house after Tuesday, Oct. 1's episode of The Bold and the Beautiful? Anyone who has even a bit of knowledge about Taylor and Ridge's history knows that the soap is setting us up for an emotional roller-coaster with the heart failure storyline.

No, the two's love story has never been a smooth one and Taylor isn't the one Ridge ultimately chooses in the end whenever the writers decide to strike up the Brooke/Ridge/Taylor triangle once again. But it is undeniable that Taylor is a great love of Ridge's life. I'm going to be showing my Tridge shipper heart here but they're soulmates and best friends.

So, of course, Ridge began to fall apart when he learned Taylor's dying. Thorsten Kaye's Ridge tends to have frustration and anger bubbling under the surface when he's rocked by emotion. In some ways, he's like a contained tornado and we saw that on display in today's episode as a tempest of heartache rolled through Ridge.

While Taylor has accepted her fate, and Rebecca Budig played that so well with a resigned performance on her end, Ridge isn't willing to not fight. He leashed his devastation fueled ire as best he could to get Taylor to see reason. She doesn't want to tell their kids? That's not fine but he's picking his battles because the biggest hill they're facing is her dragging her feet regarding her health.

Taylor keeps saying that she's a doctor so she doesn't need another person in the field to explain what's going on with her, the one medical professional was enough. Except it's not! Like Ridge, I felt crazy pants listening to her speak like that as if it made a bit of sense.

Thankfully, he wouldn't back down. When Taylor divulged that she spoke to Li and got a list of specialist to choose from, Ridge latched onto that lifeline. He used it as leverage. She doesn't want him to tell Steffy about her condition? Then, she's going to book an appointment with one of those cardiologists (we know which one!) and, yes, he's going to be with her every step of the way through this.

The two now, however, have a secret between them that they're not going to be sharing with anyone. Unless this storyline floats all convention that should mean that the security Brooke's feeling about her relationship with Ridge is about to go down the shoot.

She was very confident, as she should be, telling Steffy that she's the woman in Ridge's life and that she's his future. But Taylor's revelation is going to have the effect of Ridge wanting to be around her all the time and concerned about her without Brooke knowing why. That's likely to cause drama especially with Donna and Katie saying they were going to keep an eye on Taylor if Brooke wasn't. When the truth finally outs, it's sure to be a can't miss moment.
