The Station 19 series finale left the door open for a possible spinoff but can it really happen?

Station 19 ended its run on a big finale that showed what happens to our beloved characters! Is there a chance a couple might somehow get a spin-off?

Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for the Station 19 series finale.

As many know, Station 19's showrunners weren't planning on this being the last season. Peter Paige and Zoanne Clack had just taken over as showrunners before the 2023 strikes held off the season. Just as the strikes ended and they were getting to work, they got the word ABC was canceling the series.

Thus, the 10 episode season 7 was the last and that meant shifting things up, which was tougher given it was such a short season order. However, the finale was a big one as the team saved Seattle from a deadly wildfire despite some casualties (RIP Kate).

Interestingly, throughout the episode, each character got a "flash forward" showing what became of them from Maya and Carina starting a family to Theo returning, Ross and Sullivan getting married and Andy promoted to fire chief.

Among the flash forwards was Vic who saw herself taking Crisis One national and becoming a huge success. That included a cameo from Dean whose spirit congratulated Vic which Clack told TVLine was a last-minute change.

"That flash-forward was a last-minute revision. When we finally landed on the Dean of it all, it felt like (a) bringing back a beloved part of the station's past, and (b) he's been her North Star. He's her guardian angel at this point. Giving her that affirmation from him that she has carried the torch and done the good thing, that felt really powerful and beautiful."

That was good but another flashforward gives fans hope for a future show.

Could a Station 19 spin-off starring Vic and Travis happen?

At the airport about to leave Seattle, Vic was surprised to have Travis join her as, while he loved Dom (and the flash forwards showed them together with a family), Vic was always his best friend.

"We wanted very much one of our great love stories to be platonic," says Paige. "A 'platoncom.'" That clearly left the door open for a possible spin-off of Vic and Travis making Crisis One into its own platform which Paige would love to see happen.

"There's actually a meme of a Crisis One poster. 'Crisis One on ABC Thursday nights at 8 o'clock.' It's a total no-brainer."

That would be a good way to continue Station 19, with fans still upset that the show ended prematurely with so many storylines and character beats left up in the air. Following Vic and Travis would be a good way for it to continue, but it may not happen.

"Unfortunately," Clack admits, "ABC hasn't" said anything about a possible offshoot. It would be great, yet it can also work that, like so many other Station 19 characters, Vic and Travis got their happy ending to close out this terrific spin-off success.

Station 19 seasons 1-7 are streaming on Hulu.
