911 is jumping from Fox to ABC, and the first trailer shows it’s going to be an epic opening! See the exciting new showcase for the hit rescue drama! Among the biggest surprises when the TV schedules were announced in May was that Fox was canceling the successful 911. The rescue crew drama had been a good hit for the network so suddenly dropping it (while keeping spin-off 911: Lone Star) was a baffling move.

Then, it was announced the series was moving to ABC. The likely reason was the budget, as between the big special effects and the high-powered cast of Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and others, each series episode cost a reported $9 million. So the show is set for its debut on its new network and this being 911, it’s going to be a wild opening.

911 fans know the show loves to go all out for the season premieres. Past starts to a season have included a tsunami, a mudslide, an earthquake, and a blackout. Now, the trailer picks up where the season 6 finale left off as Athena and Bobby boarded a cruise ship. Of course, something happens and the ship ends up floundering in a storm.

As Athena and Bobby try to maintain order to save the passengers, the rest of the crew are going to race to the sea to help them. It looks like the show is going to use the new larger ABC budget to full effect in some spectacular visuals and stunt work. So it appears 911 is going to be right at home on its new network with all the action and drama fans love taken to a bigger scale.

911 season 7 premieres Thursday, March 14, at 8 p.m. ET only ABC.
