That fire couldn't have been an accident in 911 (but who started it?)

Bobby Nash isn't doing well after that housefire in 911 season 7, episode 9. Let's be honest, though, there is no way that fire was an accident. I think we know who started it.

We know fires can start accidentally or from freak situations. 911 has taught us to expect the unexpected. Sometimes, situations seem far too suspicious.

Caution: This post contains spoilers from 911 season 7, episode 9.

The penultimate episode of 911 season 7 ended with a housefire at Athena and Bobby’s place. This came after Athena asked for Amir to come over to talk to Bobby to hopefully help him deal with the survivor’s guilt that he clearly still has.

Bobby wasn’t happy that Athena went to see Amir. Amir also didn’t end up giving Bobby the pep talk Athena thought he needed. However, he may have returned while Bobby and Athena slept.

Amir had to have started the fire in 911

As much as fires can start up under freak circumstances and accidents, Athena’s house as stood for 20+ years. She’s married to a firefighter, and Bobby surely checks things before he goes to sleep. He has already been through one fire that caused the loss of 148 lives, including his whole family, due to his drinking. He isn’t going to let something happen again, even when he’s struggling with dealing with the past.

Plus, this fires clearly started from outside of the house. The area all around the windows was on fire and it came into the house.

Amir struggled when he was in the house. He took a good look around at the entire place, and it felt like he was planning something. Then he started to have a panic attack seeing everything that Bobby has gained throughout the last few years. It was easy to tell what was going through his mind. Why did the man who inadvertently started the apartment fire that caused his burns and took the lives of so many others get to have a happy life with a lot of friends.

What Amir doesn’t see is the guilt Bobby holds. He didn’t see the book with the 148 names, and he didn’t know that Bobby had planned to take his own life after writing that 148th name. That didn’t matter to Amir, though. Why would it?

It seems highly likely that Amir thought that Bobby needed to pay. He likely started the fire, intending to kill Bobby and Athena.

Will Bobby survive from what looked like a heart attack?

Bobby did manage to get Athena out of the burning house. He was outside just as firefighters turned up, and while Athena was being taken away, Bobby had what looked like a heart attack.

We know from the trailer for the 911 season 7 finale that Bobby is in a coma. This gives us some hope that Bobby will survive, but it’s surely going to be touch and go. Part of survival involves Bobby wanting to pull through.

The last time we had a character in a coma, we saw what was going on in their mind. That was Buck, who ended up in an alternate reality where he never became a firefighter and Bobby did die. Will we get another alternate reality? Could we get to see Bobby have a world where the fire didn’t kill his family and the other 148 people? Will he get to see what he will miss out on if he doesn’t pull through the coma?

While all that goes on, Athena is sure to want to find out how the fire started. The minute she finds out it was arson, she’ll go after someone.

The 911 season 7 finale airs on Thursday, May 30 at 8/7c on ABC.
