Why isn't Niall Horan on The Voice season 25? Here's what we know!
By Sabrina Reed
The Voice season 25 is underway! Ahead of the premiere, there were rumors that Reba McEntire would be exiting the series but the Queen of Country Music herself debunked those false reports. What's not in question is singer-songwriter Niall Horan's absence from the season. He made his debut as a coach in 2023 and only completed two full seasons of the show, but they were memorable as Horan won them both.
With a three-peat certainly possible, why is Niall Horan not in this season of The Voice? Well, he's touring. The same year the musician joined the series was also the year that he put out his third studio album The Show. In a video he released on X/Twitter, per Rolling Stone, Horan shared the following with fans:
"What makes this record incredibly special to me is it’s a reflection of where I am in my life today, as a person, a musician, and of course, as a songwriter. Can’t say I’m not a little nervous, but hopefully you’ll still like this version of me when you listen to the new record."
The version he was speaking of is that of a 30 year old man who'd been in the business since he was a teen. His music has grown since his days in the boy band One Direction which has opened the door to new and exciting experiences and, of course, the wisdom that comes with getting older. I'm partial to the track "You Could Start a Cult," a folksy off the beaten path devotional to a lover that features Horan trading verses with Lizzy McAlpine.
According to American Songwriter, Horan began his tour on Feb. 20. He's currently on the European leg. Late April into May is when he'll be making his way to Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Horan's stateside tour dates begin on May 29. He'll be making his way up and down the country until his last show on Aug. 3. The artist also has shows in the U.K. and Ireland scheduled for late summer. For the full tour date schedule, click here.
The Show: Live on Tour is Horan's first since his Flicker World Tour which kicked off in 2018. He wasn't able to tour his second studio album, Heartbreak Weather, because it came out in March 13, 2020 as the globe began to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
Due to the tour, Niall Horan likely won't be a coach for The Voice season 26 either. However, once he's finished touring, he may make his way back to the series. We'll keep you posted. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote!
