Will Trent season 2 isn't new tonight but a return date has been announced!
By Sabrina Reed
Sorry, Will Trent fans but the series won't air a new episode tonight, March 12. Instead, a rerun of the season 2 premiere, "Me Llamo Will Trent," is set to air at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. To refresh your memory, the episode starts the show's sophomore run with a literal bang as a car bomb launches an investigation that puts our titular hero on the scene with bomb expert, Cricket (played by Susan Kelechi Watson). Clark Gregg also guest stars as Arthur Highsmith, an accountant who tries to leave town after he gets caught up in some mess.
Prepare for ABC's Tuesday line-up to be out of whack for the next two weeks. This is due to the Super Tuesday coverage that preempted The Good Doctor the week of March 4. As such, the network has to get things back in order so that the three hour block is on the same episode release schedule. You can expect Will Trent to air a rerun next week as well. On March 19, season 2 episode 2, "It's the Work I Signed Up For," will be on.
The episode picks up right where the premiere left off with Will confronting James Ulster. Last season we'd learned the serial killer was the one who murdered our hero's mother, Lucy Morales. The premiere revealed that James has "kept in touch" with Will in the form of care packages. He's also claiming that he's his biological father which is just twisted!
It's the investigation that has led Will to the prison were he must unravel inmate secrets. As he's doing this, Faith has conversations with the other prisoners which leads her to some discoveries. Elsewhere in the plot, Angie sorts through her memories when a pivotal moment brings them rising to the surface while Ormewood attempts to repair the relationship he has with his son, Max.
When does Will Trent return with new episodes?
We'll be waiting until Tuesday, March 26 at 8 p.m. for episode 4, "It's Easier to Handcuff a Human Being," to make its premiere. It'll be a small town adventure for Will and Faith as they've been called to investigate a haunting involving the "Boo Hag."
Supposedly, the soul sucking being is responsible for the abduction of three young adults. A quartet of them had gone into the woods to party but only one made it out. A suspect is quickly deduced, however, closing the case won't be that simple. As always, the past has a funny way of complicating matters and it often brings surprises that lead to unexpected revelations.
As you can see from the promo, the procedural will be leaning into the kind of tropes that get us all riled up when viewing supernatural shows. There's even a moment that's reminiscent of a scene from The CW's The Secret Circle. Does anyone else remember all those dead bird's outside of Cassie Blake's house or is that just me?
Ormewood has his own case to navigate in the episode and his will lead him into the world of the entertainment industry. He's set to investigate the murder of a TV star. Will Trent is likely to get meta with this part of the plot. Lastly, Amanda has a sense that danger is imminent because that's not ominous at all.
