The Young and the Restless debuted on March 26, 1973, focusing on personal and family drama in the fictional Midwestern setting of Genoa City, Wisconsin. This legendary actor joined the cast in 1980 as Victor Newman. Braeden earned a Daytime Emmy award in 1998 and is the all-time cast leader with over 4,000 episode appearances. His debut was in the movie Operation Eichmann in 1961. He is 83.

Linder joined the cast in 1982, becoming Esther Valentine. The actor has appeared in various movies (Mother's Day and Miss Meadows) and television series and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She'll be 77 this year.

Walton is the fifth actor to portray Jill Abbott, the lone remaining original character on The Young and the Restless. The actor made her daytime debut on Capitol in 1985, joined Y&R's cast in 1987, and earned a Daytime Emmy in 1991 and 1997. She is 75.

Born: June 11, 1953

Bergman is the second actor to portray Jack Abbott, replacing Terry Lester in 1989. The actor is a three-time Daytime Emmy winner and had a long run (1979-1989) on All My Children before joining The Young and the Restless. He'll be 71 this year.

Thomas Scott, the longest-tenured actor on The Young and the Restless, became the recast for Nikki Newman in 1979. She began her career as a child in Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie. The actor also appeared in My Three Sons, The Waltons, Charlie's Angeles and John Wayne's The Shootist. She is 68.

Born: June 15, 1959

Davidson became the original iteration of Ashley Abbott in 1982, during the Abbott family's expansion. She left the cast sporadically for extended runs on Days of Our Lives, winning a Daytime Emmy for her work on both soaps. The actor, whose career began in the 1981 movie Goin' All the Way, was also part of Santa Barbara's cast in the early '90s. She'll be 65 this year.

Bregman debuted in 1983. Her character, Lauren Fenmore, battled with her all-time nemesis, Sheila Carter, which established multiple crossovers between the sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful, since the '90s. The actor's daytime career began on Days of Our Lives in 1978. She earned a Daytime Emmy in 1985 and will be 61 this year.

Her brother, Bradley Bell, is the showrunner and head writer of The Young and the Restless' sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful. The actor's character, Christine Blair, was introduced as a Jabot model in 1983. Bell shared a Daytime Emmy in 2014 for a short format film. She'll be 56 this year.

Case joined the cast in 1994, becoming the third actor to play Sharon Collins that year. Her debut came on General Hospital in 1989.
